Which goalie would you most want on your team when taking into account potential, likeliness to arrive in the NHL, and team situation?

Shesterkin for me because he has an easier path...he's supposed to be the heir to old man lundqvist's thrown. Sorokin and soderstrom will battle each other for islanders starting gig. Samsonov has an elite young goalie in the prime of his career blocking him (Holtbeast).

If you are talking straight up who has the best chance to be in the NHL the soonest + potential, its Soderstrom. Sorokin isn't coming over anytime soon, he isn't even a threat at this point after signing for another 3 years in KHL, and the talk after the development camp is Linus will be in NY next season, or at worst a season with Bridgeport then Islanders.

As for potential i like Samsonov, but longer wait time.

Give me the guy whose last name begins with S.

Not specific enough? Okay, then Samsonov for me as well.

Agreed with this too, but in tiers:

    1) Samsonov
    2) Sorokin
    3) Shestyorkin

    4) Soderstrom

Soderstrom just doesn't have the upside the other 3 has. However, I have found his value to be much lower in fantasy, so he may be the best bang for your buck option.

Just read this on another forum.

In his last 40 KHL regular season appearances, Shesterkin has posted a 32-4-1 record, along with a 1.60 GAA, a .939 SV%, and 9 SO.

He is also playing behind the best team in the league (by a wide margin) and getting the easier games while Mikko Koskinen is facing the tougher teams, so just keep that in mind when looking at his stats.

The Olympic team selections and which goalie plays there will be very telling. My belief right now is that Sorokin will be their #1 goalie while Shestyorkin could be either their #2 or #3 goalie. It's important to remember that his KHL team's head coach is also the same guy who's the head coach for Team Russia, and if he doesn't trust Shestyorkin enough to face the tougher opponents in the KHL, I doubt he has any more trust for him at the Olympics.

Last year at the World Championship, they had Vasilevsky as their #1, Sorokin #2 and Shestyorkin #3. Again, same head coach. I think that's very telling when comparing Sorokin to Shestyorkin.

I am surprised I have not heard or that anyone has not brought up the quality of opponent that Shestorkin faces versus Koskinen because that is definitely significant.

I asked about Shestyorkin receiving the easier assignments and was told that it is not apparent and that it's a rotation. This guy follows Russian hockey closely. Whatever the case might be, I am happy I picked up Shestyorkin as a free agent last June.

I dont watch KHL hockey by any means, but I do remember reading something last week online about them worrying about his progression when he's barely facing any shots.
