The way I see it, all things considered (age, potential, current production, ...), P. Kane = Matthews
Rebuild I take Matthews, competing, I take Kane
The you have Ehlers and Sergachev vs Arvidsson... and I'll easily side with Ehlers and Sergachev no matter the context
So in the end, if Matthews is worth that much to whoever wants him, you are still getting more than you are offfering in this deal so I like it for you!
