    Default Interesting takes on Kaprizov

So I saw this tweet the other day (from a KHL insider who everyone should follow as he is legit) claiming that KK has not signed that extension that was talked about a few weeks (months?) back. So it would be 1 more KHL year instead of 3 more years.

    Aivis Kalniņ?‏ @A_Kalnins

Kirill Kaprizov has denied that he had signed an extension in the KHL, says Minnesota is very much an option once his contract is up.
    https://twitter.com/A_Kalnins/status/894945590383136768

Not to mention on his Eliteprospects page (which usually has the best info for overseas contract info) does not have any confirmed contract information for him.
    http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=265645

Just interesting. But who knows as the KHL is always pretty shady and definitely want him to stay in Russia (especially with the past reports that the KHL wouldn't let KK meet the MIN reps when they wanted to give him a jersey, so the reps had to meet his agent and girlfriend).

I actually have set up a Google Alert for Kaprizov contract news, because he really could be a game changer.

Here's a question for everyone: where wouldn't you rank KK vs this year's draft, assuming:

    A) His contract does expire in 2018 and he comes over
    B) His contract is extended for 3 more years, so he can't come over until 2021.

    Thoughts?

KK would be a definite game changer for the Wild. I'd take him over both Hischier and Patrick based on the little I've seen from each but that's just me. Fingers crossed for a 1 year wait instead of a 3 year wait.

Soooooo would like for Kaprizov to come over in 2018!!

This would give me an arsenal of Nylander, Keller, Hischer and Kaprizov as my core of keepers...

    Same for me!

I would rank him over Hischier and Patrick, but with a 4 years wait he becomes a very late pick and it would be hard for me to wait so long for a player...

Right from the moment the contract was "announced" it has been shady. It was his team who announced he was staying for 3 more years - it was never verified that he signed or that he even wanted to sign. I'm still expecting him to stay in the KHL for longer, but it's not confirmed at all, and there's still a chance that his team is just flat out lying (it is Russia after all!).

    GET WELL SOON, DOBBER.

    Just another teaze new alert.

I'll start believing he's coming to the NHL once he signs his NHL contract. Until then, it's all lost in translation.

FWIW, Igor Eronko is the most reliable KHL reporter I've seen.

Just to comment on the original post, it is true that Kaprizov didn't sign that contract back then. But yes, today the rumors from Russia are saying that Kaprizov is "close to signing" or "already signed today". I found a couple of Finnish articles about this as well but of course they're using the same Russian sources that the KHL reporters are using. Looks like something's happening or already happened today.
