This year he's worth having but 5.3m next season is too much. Ride him out and maybe try trading him later in the season or hold and just drop at the end of this year.

What would you take for Slavin. 2nd round 2018 prospect pick? Or keep him this year on last year of ELC and at worst case drop him next year when contract kicks in?

I managed to get a top 12 pick (plus Polak) for him in a multi cat salary cap league. I don't expect quite that much in most deals though. Our cap is also 100M for 12 teams, we have to roster 25, and we use salaries, not cap hits. So likely a little different than your settings, but it should give you an idea.

If you are considering moving him, I'd say now is the best time to try and maximize your return. I am not sure how your league is setup for cap hits (do you follow the NHLs cap or do you have a different limit above the NHLs, actual salary vs AAV vs cap hit, etc) but I would imagine that if anyone is going to give you much of anything for him, it will be when they can roster him for the cheaper hit. His value will most likely go down a lot once that new contract kicks in next season.

I would move this guy ASAP! I am not a fan of the salary he just got, so in a cap league you got to try trading him before that cap kicks in... and the longer you wait the harder it will be and the less you will get in return.
i ended up getting a 2018 1st round prospect pick for him. So, i will get pick 1-20 in next years draft. I am pretty happy with that. Plus it frees up a roster spot for me.
