Acquiring Price

I could acquire Price for something in the ballpark of Keller + Carlson/Okposo/Letang + Mrazek. Keller has to be a part of it.

This would obviously help my goaltending right now, but my team (in my signature) is only 2 years into my complete rebuild and I'm not sure it will be worth it to pay that price for better goaltending now, when my team still won't compete realistically for a few years. By then Hellebuyck, Mrazek, or Demko could all be putting up solid numbers. In 2015-16, I was in my league's top-3 for goaltending with only Mrazek and Hellebuyck. If they come close to that in 3 years, have I lost the deal by paying so much for Price? Should I lock price in now while Keller's stock is pretty high, because my goalie situation is risky? Will Price be able to anchor a few years of championship runs for my team in 3-4 years? Other thoughts? Thanks.

Goaltending is worth 4/11 points in our weekly head-to-head matchups. Price is very valuable. Wins: 1, GAA: 1, SV%: 1, Saves: 0.5, Shutout: 0.5.

When you say Carlson/Okposo.Letang, do you mean one of the three, or all three? Just clarifying.

Rebuild or not, there are only a few players who don't merit trading to get a guy like Price. Remember - having Price also could let you trade him for even better rebuild assets this season or next. Plus, as hyped as Keller is, who knows what he'll actually amount to. Meanwhile Price is as elite as they come and it's not like he's already in his mid-30s. I think you should try to make this happen.

One of the three. I'd prefer for it to be Okposo but I think he prefers Carlson.

Keller-Carlson-Mrazek for Price is decent. Mrazek is stuck in Detroit right now, and they're horrible. Keller is a rookie who won't provide you much more than... oops I'm looking at your LW. Perhaps you should consider another move and boost your LW. You're really weak there.

Looking at your team, I don't think you can actually compete. So unless you can flip price for better assets, I wouldn't do this deal for you. Doesn't make much sense for your team to go and acquire Price when you're not competing...

I agree with this. Its to early to make that trade. Who knows how price will be in a few years when your team is ready to compete. There are cheaper options that could either tide you over, or develop in the meantime .

Even if he doesn't fit your timelines you can flip him for more assets back to a team who wants him badly.

I agree that its a good deal my response was more to the original questions of "will Price be the goalie to carry him to championships in 3 years. I dont expect that he will be. If the plan is to flip him then yeah go for it.

I'd do that deal immediately.

Really a coin flip for me between Helle and Mrazek long term. I'd like to say Helle and know that the Jets want him to be their goalie of the future, but he really spit the bit last year and was affirmatively unimpressive (kind of like Mrazek).

Either way, I think that's a really good deal for you with instant built in equity if you decide to turn around tomorrow and flip Price to another team.

easy accept. (although i'd rather hellebuyck than mrazek long term). but that doesn't matter, you take price as you aren't in a cap league.
