Buchnevich for Theodore?
Trying to pry Theodore from a manager and I sent him an offer of:
I give: Stecher, Bean, 2018 1st
I get: Theodore
He declined and said that it was decent offer but he wanted to keep Theodore. After asking him if there was something I could add to the deal that would net me him, he said that he liked Buchnevich and DeAngelo as well.
Theodore will definitely be a great dmanbut not sure how I feel about giving up all those pieces just for him. Not going to move DeAngelo since I want to keep my D intact for the most part.
Thoughts?

I'd have no problem losing DeAngelo, I don't think he will ever hit his upside.

Buchnevich has a decent chance at starting the season on the top line with Zibanejad
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

DeAngelo for Theodore would be a good move IMO but not sure the other GM would take that

The problem you face now is he knows you want Theodore, and the more you try to get him the more the other GM will try to extort you. It's a fine line to walk, but the key is not to let your desire to get a certain player blind you to an extent that you overpay.

If you can get Theodore for DeAngelo, I'd make that move. Offer it up and see if he bites. I wouldn't trade Buchnevich for him straight up though.

A bit surprised to see all the Buchnevich > Theodore opinions. I moved Buch for Theodore this off-season and never looked back. I do think Buchnevich will be a very good player but give me a stud dman over a high 50's to low 60's forward any day. I think in 1-2 seasons we'll be talking about Theodore >>> Buchnevich in most formats.

Well it's easy to say you've never looked back, but in all fairness, you haven't seen him play a single game in LV yet either so looking forward I am not sure how you can be so sure of anything. You may look back and regret this deal too. None of us know anything more than what we know today and knowing what I know today, I prefer Buchnevich.

I think Vegas as a team struggles out of the gate, including Theodore.
Therefore you might be able to play the waiting game and at trade deadline this season you might be getting offered Theodore + to get Buchnevich.

I prefer Buchnevich over Theodore. I really like Buch's upside and he should have a great opportunity for 1st line and top PP minutes this year
