What do you expect from him this season and beyond? Seen a few clips of him he seems very slick and reminds me a bit of Aho - both have tremendous edges and very creative, similar upside? Is he this years Sebastian Aho (CAR)?

He very well could be. You are bang on about his edge-work and creativity.

It is just a matter of making it through camp and solidifying himself a spot in the top 6 on a line with Barkov or Trocheck.

Tallon has said he sees him playing on the 2nd line with Trocheck. Others have said he could push Barkov and Huberdeau towards their true potential and be their playmaker (while others see Vrbata skating alongside them).

If he does stick and transitions well...

I could see ~45-50 points this season (Teravainen/Eberle type season; replacing Jagr's numbers with potential for further growth in coming seasons).

Optimistic: 55-60 points (Zuccarello/Schwartz type season)...

Or he could just as well start hot (or cold) and fizzle out at around 30-40 points (Konecny/Jarnkrok type season).

Just a question of whether or not he can figure things out over here. If he does, I believe he has potential for much more heading into his second and third seasons. I do think he will be more of a Zuccarello type (speedy, undersized, playmaker = assist heavy) player but don't mind the Aho comparison either...

Haapala is definitely a very talented playmaker who is always trying to create offense. He can get pushed around a bit, so he definitely needs to add some muscle to his slight frame. If he can do that and he can handle himself against bigger and more physical competition, he could do well. It's top-6 or bust for him, there's no use for him if he's not getting offensive minutes.

would you guys feel comfortable drafting him in a 1 year pts league where ~285 forwards are selected? Am wondering if he is worth a late round pick as a sleeper.

I wouldn't be as think there are 285 better options right now but he is worth considering. In fairness the Panthers development camp had some good sound bites for their young guys as Repo also had similiar said about him possibly being closer to step in than given credit for...

Definitely worth a late pick. Could be a nice sleeper. I doubt others in that range offer similar upside.
