It's close, but give me Backstrom over Seguin.
Personal preference here (and happy owner bias).
Points-only keeper league. 12 teams. Keep any 12 players. Dress 12F - 6D - 2G.
Seguin 85 (That first line is going to be killer)
Backstrom 84pts (Mr. Consistency)
Tank 77pts (Should challenge for the Rocket...but supporting cast??)
Draisatl 76pts (If he was guaranteed to play the wing with McDavid, he'd slide in beside Seguin)
Stammer 72pts (Injuries + the reports are he's lining up to C the 2nd line...72 pts would be a bounce back)
I think all five of these guys are around the same. As Sulla alluded to, I think they will all be pretty close in points.
Seguin would be my pick - I still think he has another gear that could get him into that 85-90 point range but he has to stay healthy to do so.
Looking a little closer to Draisaitl's stats
2016/17 shooting percentage was 16.9% (high but up from his 14.3% from his rookie season)
He took 172 shots (which isn't all that high isn't it?)
Safe to say his shooting percentage should be around 15% (is that realistic to you?) and he took 180 shots next season - assuming he's on the 2nd line with Lucic, Sleplyshev or Jokinen and top PP minutes, that is = to 27 goals and do you really see his assist totals going up from 48 when his linemates are not exactly due for goal increases?
So wouldn't 27 goals + 48-50 assists be pretty realistic? 75-77 pts
Agree with this ^ ^
Are there sexy, sexy cases to make for Tank, and Seguin, and Draisaitl and Stamkos?
Absolutely.
But Backstrom is the safe, reliable points.
