Default CAGE MATCH TOURNAMENT #2 - Late Peakers - VOTE HERE

Thanks to everyone who voted in last week's tournament, where you declared (http://forums.dobbersports.com/showt...kers-VOTE-HERE) Tyler Johnson the current NHL skater least likely to ever top his current single season high despite entering 2017-18 younger than the peak age for his position.

In this week's tournament we're doing a 180, to determine which NHL forwards might still be capable of setting a new personal single season scoring high despite the fact that they will enter 2017-18 already older than the peak age for forwards, i.e., older than 27.73 years old.

Who should get your vote(s)? Whichever of the voting choices you think will - in 2017-18 or ANY future season - score more than their current single season best point total, which is denoted in parentheses next to their name.

Can you vote for more than one player? Yes! In fact you can (and should) vote for as many players as you think have not yet posted their career best single season point total. In other words, don't just vote for the one player you think is most likely to top his current single season best point total -- vote for ALL players you think will do so in 2017-18 or a future season. That way the results will be more informative.

Here's a link to the associated column (http://www.dobberhockey.com/hockey-h...e-yet-to-peak/), which includes more key information about the players and why I think they belong on the list, plus disqualifying factors (e.g., all voting choices must have previously scored 50+ points in at least one season).

Great news - there will be a third tournament next week! Let's just say I was inspired by one of this week's choices - you can find out more at the end of this week's column when it's posted.

Voted Nyquist and Couture. Dont think the rest will have career years left in them

edit: Radulov will most likely have a career year with the Stars potent offense

Can definitely see Atkinson building on his last season and posting 65-70. Also don't think Couture and Nyquist have peaked. Radulov could easily put up 60 in Dallas.

    I voted for:

Atkinson: I don't think he has peaked yet.

Eaves: Need to stay healthy, but proved he can play with elite linemates.

Pacioretty: Needs that elite centre to help him. Can Drouin be that centre.

Radulov: Should have hit 65 this year, but the whole team swooned before Therrien was fired.

JVR: This is mostly based on the fact that he could be dealt/sign somewhere else next year, and he could become a top-line winger depending on where he goes.

Writer of the weekly Top 10 column.

12-team Keeper pool, straight points for forwards & dmen. Goalies get: 2 points per win, 3 per shutout, 1 point per assist & 1 point per shootout loss.

    League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.

Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.

Forwards: Panarin, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stamkos, Tuch, Rust, Marchessault, Pavelski, Miller, Bertuzzi, Stone, Kakko, Brown, Stankoven, Kovalenko
Defence: Hedman, Fox, Matheson, Thrun, Jiricek
Goalies: Kochetkov, Talbot, Vasilevskiy, Campbell, Schmid

Wow - some interesting opinions so far. Two of the guys I voted for (Wheeler, Bozak) have no other votes, and the other two (Turris, Zuccarello) aren't faring much better. As for the early leaders, I'll just say that the rest of you have far more faith than I do in either Radulov or Nyqvist.

Nyqvist I have absolutely zero faith in. Let alone having faith in a Detroit team that will be an anchor in the standings the next number of years.
Radulov I just think is someone that can be carried in Dallas.

Atkinson, JVR, Radulov and Zuc for me. Limited gains for Atkinson, JVR and Zuc at +2 or +3 over current- I'm guessing Radulov has a chance at 70+ with the right deployment in Dal

I think the issue for Wheeler is how much higher can he go? That's a pretty good season as a benchmark

I thought so too, but then I dug into the numbers a bit more - I highlighted what I found in the column that will post today. Plus, a lot of folks wondered how much higher Marchand could go too, before 2016-17.
