Good real life contract, bad contract for salary cap leagues.

This probably adds even more fuel to the Olli Maatta trade rumors. They can't afford everyone there.

He was hardly worth anything in any fantasy league, regardless of cap implications.

Was thinking the first number would be a 3 if the term would be more than four years. Not a great deal for the Pens.

Oli if they get good value for him via trade, but with the Massive Cole left when Letang goes down, they need a backup D ready to go. So unless some team comes in with a trade offer that Matt Hunwickssss them off their feet, he does Maatta.

capfriendly has the pens with 21 players signed and 6 million in cap space (only sheary to sign). The cap looks manageable for this year to me.

They need some forward help. They lost a lot of guys this summer and haven't really added anyone to replace them. 3rd line center is an obvious big hole right now, and Maatta is they guy they've been shopping to fill that hole.

They really do need help at C. Not just a #3 but all four of their centers played important roles.

I think a reunion would be cool. Less pressure from the media, would have all the makings of a success story...Pens three-peat!

They lost Bonino, who's definitively a 3C with low offensive upside. He's overpaid in Nashville. Beyond that, I can't think of another significant piece they lost, until they trade Sheary for a 3C but I don't actually consider him significant. Rowney is a fine 4C replacement for Cullen.

Only the deepest of deep leagues would have had Dumoulin... Now it's only the deepest of deep non salary cap leagues...

i do do think that the Pens move a D man now.. Even if it is just to finally set Poulliot free

Bonino, Cullen and Kunitz, that's 50% of their bottom-6. And they all played a significant role last season - not an offensive role but very important roles. Rowney is a decent 4th line player (maybe someone who should play wing mostly and center only when needed) but any good team needs at least five good centers. They have two great ones and one #5 guy, so they need to replace those #3 and #4 guys. #3 centers are very difficult to find these days - Sheary probably isn't even enough to get that guy.
