That's the catch. He would be I used one of my 2 1st rd picks to get him this year. The real question is do I stock up on picks and lose him to this team that in not worried about or risk a better team drafting him or having to use a high pick to get him back. It helps my team overall next year to add the 2 picks

That's unfortunate - if I were the other guy and I needed a bonafide keeper, I'd be offering top picks.
Perhaps shop Wheeler around and see if anyone else will pay more. If not, I'd probably take the picks and assume there are options equal to Wheeler in the 1st and 2nd rounds.

Try shopping Patches or Bergeron as well. Similar value players, but maybe something that can get you a bigger return.

Personally I always take something instead of nothing... too many ifs that you can re land him, though agree I'd expect better

I would be keeping Crosby, ovi, Benn, burns, bobo or another forward.
Honestly I don't see wheeler as a keeper in this league but yes to a second round redraft. You should get more than a 5th and 7th

Instead of a 5 & 7th, I would ask for a 2nd, then see if you can settle on a 3rd or 4th. Who would be the type of players available first round? vs 5th round. May just throw Wheeler back, if you don't get him you get a comparable.

I wouldn't take a 5th and a 7th, that's borderline insulting.
I'd ask for a 2nd, and I'd settle on a 3rd if I exhausted all other avenues. If you can't get a 2nd or a 3rd, throw him back in and try to redraft.
