    Default All Things Giroux

I've heard all the bad news on him, horrible 5v5 results, declining numbers, etc. That being said, I just picked him back up in a deal (league in sig).

Share with me your thoughts on where he levels out (or potentially bounces back) as the kids start to make their mark, plus with the added bonus of having Patrick in the fold. I've done some research already (I originally drafted him so I know him pretty well) meaning I've always had a soft spot for him, but what do you think points-only going forward?

Our league uses yearly salary, not cap hit FWIW.

    IMO, 55 floor & 85 ceiling

He just came of major surgery last year, hip I believe.
I think he's still got it in him, but the decline is there, so as an asset to manage if you can get him on the cheap he's worth it.

Only issue is most owners are clinging on to hope that he bounces back.
He still remains very valuable in mult-cat leagues though.

I moved him in my other league and got a return of Clayton Keller, 3rd, 12th and 13th overall picks.
No one else was biting on him.

I actually think he'll be back around 65-70ish range. "buy low time" in my eyes.
Still a top PPP MONSTER with improved help coming for 2017.
Last years dip, I would choke that as a recovery year for him. (hand/concussion getting ab strength back etc)

I've owned him in the league in my signature for the last 3 years as one of my 4 keepers. I've consistently seen his stats drop year after year but I always held onto hope he'd bounce back to be a top fantasy producer but this year I wont be protecting him. I think in a points only or a league with fow he's still valuable 60-65 points. Maybe the injuries affected his play last year...or maybe it just the decline. He's not the fastest player and it's a fast man's game now. Just looking at his goals/assists/point and shot totals regress every year since i've had him and his +/- got worse every year..it's made me sour... I'm jumping ship. That being said If I can get him for cheap in my points only league I'd do it.

He's been battling/recovering from injuries the past few years, which in itself is a red flag.

I think expectations should be 60 to 70 points with great secondary stats in multicat league. Especially if you count FOW. He's essentially another Bergeron now.

I hope that everyone that is guessing 60-70 points in right... I would love for him to push 80+ again this year.

I think that the Olympics not being open to NHL players will play a positive impact for him. I feel that not making the team last time around effected him negatively that if NHL players were going this year it would have been a distraction.

Sounds like a stretch. Olympics should have been a motivation for him, not a distraction.

I think he's gonna bounce back, slightly but I think his days of being a top7 player are gone. 60-65 pts.

Yeah he isn't a top 10 guy anymore.

Still top 30 though in multicat leagues w/FOW

I'm a Flyers fan so I feel as qualified on this subject as any. There's been a variety of factors affecting his declining point totals the last few years ranging from inconsistent coaching results to injury difficulties to a weak roster behind him, particularly at D and in the bottom six. However, he should be healthy and didn't compete in the playoffs, the team is rapidly improving, and there's some serious additions to this upcoming year that should boost the supporting cast he has (Lindblom, Morin/Hagg, Patrick, a full year of Filpulla, and Konecny in his sophomore season to be specific).

I'd say if you're going to buy on Giroux now is the time to do it. His floor is 55 points, ceiling is probably 65~. Realistically, I think he'll be around 60 points this year, health permitting, but a lot of it really depends on how well the team performs this year. Which includes how well the new additions perform and if the coaching improves. Nowadays, he's more a two-way performer whose on-ice results go beyond raw point production, despite whatever his ES production versus PP production leads you to believe. That won't really translate to fantasy, aside from FOW.

    His Salary makes him tough.

67 and 58p respectively for the past 2 years.

$9 million dollars for that production? No thanks.....

I don't think we can expect him to go back to his 1ppg seasons but I foresee a small bounceback to 65 points, 21 goals and 44 assists.
