Default Trade Offer (Big) - I'll Rep

I got offered Drouin, and 1st overall for Kuzy, my 1st (12th) and 3rd (33rd).

The 3rd ended up being higher than it could have been, because the pick belonged to my brother originally and he moved up in the draft lottery to 5th (finished 5th), so the 3rd could have been 38th for instance.

This is the first round picks from this past year vs 3rd:

1st: Matthews, Laine, Okposo, Letang, JP, Spezza, OEL, Holtby, Hoffman, Price, Klingberg, Carlson, Schenn, Josi.

3rd: Lucic, Jones, Radulov, Weber, Krejci, Zibanejad, Barrie, Sharp, Hedman, Trocheck, Bishop, Brassard, Crawford, Allen.

Guys like Patrick and Hishchier will be available, along with any other non-keepers.

Kuzy was to be my 3 going into this year, and I was trying to decide between Johansen/Monahan for 4 year, but I can top Drouin up to 4, then go Drouin (4), Johansen/Monahan (3), Hall (2), Johansen/Monahan (1).

I still have the option to keep Wheeler as a 1 and move 1 of Monahan and RyJo as I mentioned in other threads.

The other gm was originally asking for Johansen, my 1st and 2nd (also that I got from another team), but that team fell in the draft lottery too, so that 2nd could have been as high as 19th overall, but he fell to 24.

    My picks as of right now are: 1, 2, 3 (33), 3 (40), 5, 5, 6, 8, 9.

If I do the deal, I'll have my own 3rd still, but move up in the 1st from 12th to 1st, so that is the cost of moving a late first for top pick. My last pick will be in the 10th round instead of 9th, since I would be losing 2 picks and only getting 1.

If I get Drouin, I'll have Drouin, Hall, Monahan, Johansen, and still can try to move 2 guys to re-coup picks (of Hedman, Wheeler, Mon/RyJo). I'll have Drouin locked in as 4, and Hall as 2, so the other 2 spots are flexible depending on trades. Hedman and Wheeler don't have contracts, Wheeler expired after 16/17. so was a rental last year, and Hedman I drafted.

I could do Drouin (4), Johansen (3), Hall (2), Monahan (1), Aho (rookie), then draft 1 of Hishchier or Patrick 1st overall, or if I'm unable to move Wheeler, I can draft him with my 1st pick , or at the least consider it. Would be tough to decide between he and one of those 2 rookie studs, even though they aren't generational. The chance to draft 1st overall is rare when you do pretty well most years.

Ideally though, I would still like to move 1 of Johansen and Monahan to re-coup a pick, then keeper Wheeler, and go Wheeler, Monahan or Johansen, Hall, Drouin, Aho.

I think if you simplify and shorten your post a tad, you will get more responses - this was one busy post with a lot of names thrown around. I would stay pat if that 12th overall was going to land me a pretty good player + I like Kuz just a hair more than Drouin. If you're looking to rebuild I might suggest taking the deal, but if you're looking to remain competitive and have 2 solid draft picks early on, then stick this one out.
Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.

Yeah for sure, I realize it's a bit detailed. I finished 3rd last year, 7th the year before, and have trade options to recoup any picks I lose. I wouldn't say really looking at a rebuild, still will have Hall, and 2 of Monahan, RyJo, Wheeler, plus aho is my rookie carry over, so I think I'll be solid next year. In the first 5 rounds, I'll still have 5 picks even if I lose 2 and gain 1, although I don't have a 6th, but it's more a crapshoot by then anyways, so later picks I can still make hay with.

i take that deal. Drouin will be poised to make a statement, and the 1st overall nets you a very good player to boot!

I don't feel that the difference between Drouin and Kuznetsov is worth it to move up to #1 overall.

Using the available players you posted, it could be something like:

Drouin and Price for Kuznetsov Josi and Crawford

I would keep Kuznetsov, Josi and Crawford.

Fair point, but what about if I'm able to re coup the pick? I've got trade chips anyways, so pretty likely I can get a pick back, keep wheeler, and I'm better off with the # 1 pick.

Are you saying it's too much of a downgrade from kuzy to drouin to move up to first?!

Yeah, it's any non-keepers, so newly drafted guys are available. Why Patrick vs Hischier? How do you expect Kuzy and Drouin's pt totals to differ next year.

Drouin younger - go with him and the first - Kuz still behind Backstrom, especially if you have other bargaining chips.

How do you expect their point output to compare for next season/the ones following? Also, would you go after Hischier or Patrick with the first pick?

Habs invested big time in Drouin so thinking he is going to get #1 PP, within 5 pts of Kuz, Go with Hischier, he is going to get opportunities in NJ.

    Stick with Kuzzi.
I think Kuzzi will be short 5-10goals compared to Drouin at most.
MTL i think will struggle again.
