Default Trading Donaldson in a Keeper

    League in Sig.

    I've been offered:
1st rounder (8th after keepers), 6th rounder (13th after keepers) Carlos Martinez (SP)
    for my
Donaldson 23rd rounder (after keepers), 24th rounder (after keepers) (last 2 picks).

I can likely push that 6th rounder up, but I'm looking to get younger as my keepers were on the older side and injuries and down yrs (Tanaka/Ces/Chapman/Donaldson) have made me 4th out of 10th but a BIG gap between me and the top 3.

My keepers (7) would turn into Judge, Bellinger, Correa, Ramirez, Conforto, Martinez, and then one of the others (Rizzo likely if I don't move him).

Is it smart to move Donaldson? Or am I doing the wrong thing?

His name is Donaldson, not DONEaldson

That return is nowhere near his ''regular'' value. I own him and he's a pain to roster this year but he still has a few great years left IMO. That 1st will get you a 70+ ranked player and the 6th is a Hail Mary at this point. Martinez is a good toss-in and he has racked up some good numbers (except for Ws) but its far from enough for me to just give up on JD like that!

7 keepers and the 1st 7 draft picks are allocated to keepers, so a 1st round after keepers is listed as a 8th round pick.

Last yr the first round was like Kluber, Archer, Braun, and a couple of other top players.

Ya but how many in total are kept before you start drafting? 10 teams x 7 keepers per team = 70 players kept before you get to the 1st round picks and then you pick 8th? Am I correct in saying that? So basically that 1st pick is like the 78th best player, give or take?

If he has the 8th pick yes, the "8th after keepers" was referring to the round (8th round) and not the pick in the round. It would likely be picks 8-10 tho based on him going for it this yr

Would you offer Donaldson and Ramirez (Cleveland's JR) for Kris Bryant? Is that even close?

Bryant is younger than JD and although his play is not as elite as it was last year, he still has the talent to steer the ship back. However, Ramirez helped me win last season and if I owned him this year, he would definitely factor in. He tends to fly under the radar but man is he valuable to his owners as he racks up stats across the board.

Ramirez for Bryant would still be a steal for the one getting KB but adding JD to the mix tilts the scales back I feel. Since Ramirez is not a keeper, I'd be inclined to make this deal ONLY if you aren't competing.
