Both posted pretty close to the same pace last year. I love Ellis though. He has to be one of, if not the most, underrated 40 point defenceman for what he brings. Anyways, Trouba probably tops him this year as long as he is healthy. One full season, and three seasons of 65 of less games.

Trouba's back on the clock in regard to 2nd year of his 2yr bridge deal... Fire under his ass to produce and get that big contract he wants.

Ellis' chemistry with Josi was off the charts. Trouba will be asked to do everything, which will cut into his scoring. For the next 3 years give me Ellis. Beyond that, Trouba.

Trouba will be hitting his prime age-wise, and, if still in Winnipeg, will be on a team that should be elite and probably in a Hedman-like role where he's doing it all, including in more offensively-favorable situations. For now and the near future though, Trouba's "real world" value will cut into his production, whereas Nashville saw full well how offensively potent Ellis is and will let him be unleashed for the next few seasons.
Yeah, I know - no data or player comparables in sight. I will keep these guys in mind for a cage match this season though, and then you'll see the numbers at work.

Trouba for me. Ellis is exceptionally gifted but with 2 better offensive D men already on Nashville's squad there can only be so many points to go around.
