Thanks, PH, for all the efforts to keep this going. I do think it'll be a helpful exercise ... much better than mocking against basic algorithms online or a live mock where folks end up making their first 2 or 3 picks and then just putting the rest of the draft on auto.

I agree... autopick picks Kickers and Defenses and fills out the starting roster early... so you get a lot better looking team in online mock drafts that is ever real because you get a better WR and RB in those rounds.

And in those online ones... people always mess around with it... like the one I tried out last night someone took Fournette 2nd overall.... just plain ridiculous.

So I see that Todd Gurley recently went in our mock. Let's talk about him for a minute:

Supremely talented.
Should still be a workhorse.
Team is finally rid of bungling Jeff Fisher.

But still on what looks to be a very subpar team.
Who knows if Goff is even remotely competent.
Even if he is, do their receivers scare anyone enough to prevent Gurley from running into insanely stacked fronts all year again?
Has their O-line improved at all?

I ask because I'm working on a deal to buy him in my dynasty league. Despite his very poor season last year, he won't come cheaply. I'm intrigued because I believe in his talent. But I'm still leery about his long term outlook given the (lack of) surrounding talent.

What's the thinking on him in these parts?

Can't say I have looked too much into it yet, as this is the start of my football preparations.

I'm the one that picked him, so I'll go over my simple reasoning. I wanted a second RB here to try out a strategy, and he was the next one on my list just due to the high upside. I feel that you have to be drafting upside at this point, or you're going to be left behind. Is he the best pick, maybe not, but I'm happy with him in that slot for now.

Struck me as perhaps worthwhile to raise for discussion in the thread. I mean, probably top 5 upside. But a player that many of the talking heads are really killing this offeseason based on last year. Seems to me it's been going too far.
