broke the record for most hot dogs eated in 10 minutes with 72. i thought matt stonie would give him a better run for his money.

NEW YORK ? Joey "Jaws" Chestnut continues his reign as the chowing champion at the annual July Fourth hot dog eating contest at Nathan's Famous in New York.

The San Jose, California, man beat his own record to log a 10th win. He downed 72 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes Tuesday, besting Carmen Cincotti, who ate 62.

Chestnut downed 70 franks and buns in 10 minutes last year, topping his record at the time and taking back the title from Matt "The Megatoad" Stonie. Stonie came in third on Tuesday, with 48 franks and buns.

never got the fascination of doing this sort of stuff, you dont even get to enjoy the food lol. i watched one video where matt stonie ate like 15,000 calories, was called the michael phelps challenge, there were like 3 or 4 cans of rockstar energy drink in there too, a couple plates of pasta and one or two large pizzas .... no thank you

yep. he was the first notable competitive eater i knew, i read that he had contract problems with that competitive eating league and stays overseas ... probably eating in some KHL level like league right now

It's definitely interesting. I would like to see the long term effect that eating like this, and practicing eating like this, has on a human body.

Nathan's July 4th Hot Dog eating contest is today. Looks like Joey Chesnut is the big betting favorite. Some sites have Matt "Megatoad" Stonie at 14-1. I hope Stonie can pull it off but he lost badly last year.

Personally, I find this quite disgusting. I mean, I have nothing against someone that wants to do this, or watch it. But I want no part of it. It's just way too gross.
