Default Roll Up The Rim 150

Timmies is doing a Roll Up The Rim 150 edition starting today. The grand prize is $10,000 in a cheque (booo) or $10,000 to go towards a canadian vacation but the winner gets to choose what they do. I found that a cool wrinkle on the idea of a Canadian Vacation. I'd be focusing on Western Canada for skiing and such, but if someone is from Western Canada they would focus on lets say Toronto. Really cool idea.

I just don't like the option of just taking the cash, that is boring. But if someone can't physically go on vacation it's a fair prize option.

It's also not just 1 sorry, it's I think 10 split throughout Canada based on how many Timmies there are in each province (Ontario has 5, I'd assume like Newfoundland has 1).

And I'd be surprised if Timmies isn't getting a deal when they buy the Cars, so they may give away a $20,000 car, but it could cost them $15,000 (I get a discount as a supplier at my work, I wouldn't be surprised if tims got these cars for $10,000).

I found it a nice surprise this morning getting a coffee.

Well I'm sure they get an even bigger discount than 50% MSRP. Don't forget, the Honda logo is on each cup, regardless of the giveaway; that's crazy marketing and Honda is profiting from this as well. Many will play, few will win, but everyone will see the Honda logo (and in a way '' want one''). Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if they actually gave Tims the cars.

I can't understand why anybody would choose the vacation over the cash. With the cash, you could use it to go on a vacation, if that's what you chose to do. If you take the vacation, you can't put that money as a down payment on a house or pay off your car or whatever. With the vacation, you are pigeon holing yourself! I have always thought that with cases like this, they should try to incentivise people to take the vacation. So say 10k in cash, or 12k in vacation credit with such and such holiday planner.

The fine print is you must use a company to book stuff with from a list Tims releases. So if they wanted to be cheap, or not nice, they would select over priced companies and do 8k cash or 10k vacation, and just somehow work out a deal with these overpriced agencies. So even though you get 2k more in vacation funds, you end up spending that extra amount. But you could book the trip by yourself with 8k. Same-Same.

Also thinking of how hard it might be to get a cheque from a company got $10,000....

You forgot to say "addictive" and oh so good for the morning blahs.

I usually buy a half a dozen more coffees than usual during Roll up the Rim, so I expect my grand winnings of a free coffee within the next week...
