Default Lehner v. Darling v. Reimer

I'm looking to acquire a #2 behind Talbot OR trade Talbot and go with two #2 goalies.

Curious your thoughts on the performance of Lehner, Darling, and Reimer for the next few seasons. ALso, if you want to take a crack at what amount you think Lehner's will sign for.

    Thanks!

I think Reimer is the guy of the three. Good team in front of him. Signed long term. Solid character. Clear path (with support) to be the starter.

I like Darling as well but he is going to a team that has historically put up weak goalie numbers. I want to see this change for a season (or two) before banking on him as a number 2.

Lehner is a emotionally all over the place. I think he fits the bill of, "let somebody else gamble on that grenade".

Darling by a long shot and then you can flip a coin between Reimer and Lehner.

Also, do not trade Talbot. Acquire Darling and watch those two goalies keep you near the top of your league all year.

Lehner for me. 7th in SV% last season (min 40 GP -- 5th with min 50 GP). The talent is there (always has been) - the team was just horrible. BUF should start winning this year though.

    Then Reimer > Darling.

I want to see Darling play a full season before I start comparing him to #1s. Same can be said for Reimer to a certain degree...

I was beginning to think I was the only one who thought this was the best option, but most of the other posters chose Reimer or Darling. Anyways, I'm with VintageVibe here.

Also, do NOT trade Talbot as he is an established #1 on a young team that is only going to get better.

It's a dynasty league and I believe in both Darling and Carolina. I am not a fan of Reimer, but can respect where he is and what his team could do. I just don't see it.

Lehner still has all that potential that people keep bringing up every single year.

I basically see nothing in the way for Darling and I see question marks for the other two.

Well fellas - I was kind of hoping for some clarity

I have an offer on the table for his Reimer (he also has Darling) and Forbort (we count BLKS and HITS) for my 2nd round in 2018 and a 1st in 2019. It's a prospect only draft and I'm not too concerned about acquiring picks back if I need to.

Lehner is owned by the guy who wants Talbot - so I could potentially get Lehner + a stud forward. And then roll with Lehner + Reimer (or Darling).

It sounds like Lehner is the more talented tender but a bit volatile. Darling and Reimer are pretty close together - though I think Darling is handed the reins 100%.

Trading Talbot for Lehner is insane.

Agreed - that is crazy. To be fair, I would only consider something like Lehner + Huberdeau or something for Talbot. But yeah, trading Talbot for Lehner is not in the plans.

The primary question is Darling v. Reimer.

How many goalies start in your format?

FWIW, I'd take a gamble on Darling over Reimer.

Darling for me pretty easily. I too have faith in both him and Carolina. Reimer has Luongo to contend with, but Darling is going to be handed the reins as Ward is slowly directed towards the proverbial 2018 free agency door.

Lehner is not in the same tier as these guys until he actually gets signed as Buffalo's for sure starter. If Elliott, Mason, Bernier or someone else come in, then he may not be able to fight them off.

Do not trade Talbot, and take Darling over Lehner and Reimer. Carolina's about to break out with all that talent, and Darling's gonna have some great numbers because of it. Lehner is too injury prone (plus he hasn't even signed yet) and Reimer is in a timeshare with Luongo. I don't see him as a bonafide number 1, even after Lou retires (which might not be for a while anyways).

    GET WELL SOON, DOBBER.
