    Default Hall of fame predictions?

NHL is announcing its hall of fame class on Monday. Any guesses on who?

I figure Selanne is a lock. Alfie has a shot. Maybe it's time to put in someone like Rechhi, Roenick, Bellows, Kariya Mogilny, Fleury, Andreychuk, Brind'Amour or Joseph? Or will they go with some extra builders/coaches?

Not sure if the women have the same rules about having to be retired for four years, but if not, then Wickenheiser should be a shoo-in.

    Selanne for sure.
Recchi deserves it tho I was never a big fan.
Heard a case for Butch Goring that sounded compelling.

And obviously Kevin Lowe he has 6 cups he knows a little something about winning. ......

Just looked up Recchi. 577 goals. 1533 points. Won a Stanley Cup with 3 different teams. 22 yeas.

I wouldn't have pegged him as a HOF'er, but I suppose it's hard to argue against those numbers.

I think Recchi & Mogilny should be in from that list, and obviously Selanne should be in for sure. Fleury an outside chance at it.

The women's side is sorely lacking IMO so the Hall could do worse than recognise a few in the players/builders section this time around...

There's 18 guys on the HHOF selection committee... so some of the consideration is whether any of the potential players are respected by this group:
    https://www.hhof.com/htmlinduct/indselect.shtml

There's a couple "groups" including a bunch that I'd term "the ol boys club", a Euro-group, and a NA-vet group.
Goalies are not well represented... and I think its going to be another missed year (unfortunately) for Osgood and Joseph - unfortunate, because I think the NHL is desperately lacking of goalies from last 25 years.

    Selanne is a lock.
Mogilny... I think he's got a good shot because he had years where he was elite in the same breath as Selanne - I think that will help him... and I think the Euro-contingent and the NHL-vets group can overwhelm the ol' boys club to get him in.

For me, Kariya should be in... shortened career, not great in playoffs - those are his knocks.
Considering Selanne's year - this will be his best shot to enter into the discussion.

I don't think its lost on the committee to discuss it.

Alfie will get in someday - but I think the committee has been patient on guys in the past that they deem are simply not "first year" merit type of guys.
    Maybe a future year.

I'll go with those three for NHL picks.

Im thinking it's Selanne, Recchi and Mogilny this year.

Alfie will have to wait. Kariya will get in eventually.

I dunno about Kariya over Alfie.....did they really just make that choice so he could go in with Teemu?? Or was Alfie hurt by playing longer and not having head problems like Kariya, whose numbers weren't affected by the late career slow down.
