    Default [Rumour] Hurricanes dangling Hanifin

Per David Pagnotta- Some talk the Hurricanes are dangling defenseman Noah Hanifin as trade bait. Carolina wants top-line guy.

No surprise - Slavin has become so damn good they can afford to trade Hanifin. They also have Fleury and Bean coming up, so this makes sense.

Also not surprised by this. Long thought they'd use one of their assets on D to bolster their forward ranks a bit. Wonder who the target is? Duchene?

It has to be Duchene right? This trade seems to make too much sense.

I just can't see the Canes moving ELC Hanifin for Duchene 2 years away from UFA.

While I don't disagree, they have a lot of pieces to convince him to stay. He's probably love playing with Aho and Skinner and some D that can get him the puck with speed. His skating is his best asset and it's wasted in Colorado.

What about Galchenyuk? Bergevin really needs a top-4 left dman.
The question is: do the Canes believe Chucky is a top-line forward.

Maybe. But I'd think the Canes would prefer to add more talent at center.

Galchenyuk is a C. And unquestionably a top line talent. I would prefer him to Duchene at this point in their careers.

To each their own, I suppose.

But it'd be fascinating if that transpired insofar as the reason Galchenyuk is likely on his way out of Montreal is that they appear to be convinced that he's not a first-line C.

I don't think there's any evidence to say Galchenyuk is a guaranteed top line talent. He for sure still has the potential to be, but there is zero definitive evidence that he is one.

I rather have Duchene as well - but to say he's a bonafide #1 C is a bit of a stretch as well. From a #1 C perspective, I think you can make an argument that Galch and Duchene are even. But from a proven producer standpoint, give me Duchene.
