He can be, but he won't be the majority starter.

Can't see it... All the rumours seem to point to a Markstrom and veteran presence. I like Demko but not sure the Canucks are the right environment for his development next season though I can believe he may get the odd spot start to expose him to what's coming

Next season, no. They didn't just re-sign Markstrom for three years and over $3M per to sit on the bench and if you believe Friedman, they are trying to bring back Miller with an incentive laced contract. That tells me they don't think he's ready yet. The Canucks will give more minors time before bringing him up. They aren't in any rush.

I'm guessing NO chance next year from a full time perspective. Still think he's 2 - 3 years out.

Yep, there really is no need to rush goaltenders, and especially in the case of the Canucks.

Truer words haven't been spoken. I mean, they're likely going just trade him anyway before he has a chance to take over the crease....

Besides, once he gets good they will trade him away.

There was an almost identical thread on here last week about Demko...

Markstrom signed for 3yrs - they will sign a back up for this season and Demko will, barring injuries will see a second full season in the AHL.
I predict he'll be Markstrom's backup come 2018/19 and by Xmas will be a 1B option stealing the starting job from Markstrom.
    2019/20 - it'll be Markstrom's crease from word go.

That's the ideal plan from Van management. it also matches up with the expiry of Markstrom's contract

I think he'll get some games after the trade deadline.
