Default Will Vegas Have #1 Prospect Pool in Hockey Next Year?

With rumors of them already having 4-6 1st round picks this year + the prospects they'll get in some of those side deals (Ana, CBJ, Min, etc.)
    Will this team be tops?

If they do this thing right, they'll be in great shape in 3-4 years time...

Nope other teams have multiple top 10 picks from deeper drafts & had time for other picks to develop into high end prospects (Kaprizov etc). In two years, they very well could have the best though.

Voted no because there's just too many variables.

If I'm not mistaken the draft is supposed to be a weaker one? Probably makes it easier for some of these teams to throw away their first rounders if so.

How good is LV scouting department? How good is their development team?

Agree. Not only a week draft but they are starting with absolutely no base.

I think they will have some good pieces but some of those pieces will have less time in the pool due to less competition for roster spots. Could be wrong but it wouldn't surprise me if they have 6th overall and maybe another pick from the draft on the roster this year.

I'd imagine a good chunk of the picks they are getting in these side deals are for 2018 or 2019. For instance, two of the teams you listed above who may have side deals don't own their 1st this summer. That could play to Vegas' benefit as perhaps they'll get a good prospect like Steel and/or Greenway for their troubles. I'd bet they are in the mix for top prospect pool in a couple of years but generally people value blue chip talent knocking on the NHL door more than anything and they're a couple of years away from having that.

You don't build your minors system off of one draft. They will still have plenty of work to do before they get anywhere near the top of the prospect game.
10 Team, Points Only, Cash League

25 Man Roster (no position), top 20 point getters count at end of month
Keep 20/25 at seasons end, Cut 5 to FA for redrafting
    Goalie points W=2pt L=-1pt SHO=2pt

Stamkos, Tavares, Eichel, Mercer, JRobertson, RThomas, Kucherov, Nugent-Hopkins, Tuch, KConnor, Necas, Point, Konecny, SJarvis, Cozenz, Morrissey, Bouchard, Josi, Novak, Tolvanen, Peterka, Brink

    G- Vasilevskiy, Sorokin, Oettinger

There's so much that goes into a good prospect pool. For starters the players are of different ages which means some are very close to contributing. For Vegas they might get an overnight player out of the draft in the 1st round, maybe not. But their main prospects will all be 18. They'll get a few older prospects through the expansion draft and trades, but most of them will be undrafted free agents. Doesn't leave a lot of hope.

To summarize, what they will really lack above all else is existing prospects in their early 20s pushing for NHL jobs. They'll need 3-4 years before they get to that point.

This - remember Vegas are trying to build a whole organisation in one Sunmer... Othe teams have been building and refining for years. I think this is a key point that people sometimes miss when considering the expansion draft - this isn't about putting the best team together for next season it's about building the best organisation and that's why I think they will Hoover up as many assets as possible either through side deals (tick - if rumours are to be believed), post expansion draft trades and deadline day trades (pending) so they will take the best pieces to attain that
Experience is the teacher of all things.
