    Default Drouin for Pasternak

    Hey guys ,

I was just offered Pasternak from a Habs fan for Drouin . I realize that Drouin is ranked a bit higher than Pasternak and probably has a higher upside but am I crazy to consider this ?

Why is the 22 yr old who scored 50 points "ranked higher" than the 21 yr old who scored 70?

Sounds like a silly ranking to me.

I expect a lot of over payments for Drouin and for me this is one - take the bird in the hand and run - We know what Pasta is and where he sits in the B's forwards - Drouin is all conjecture at this point

I like both kids long term.

Personally I'd keep Drouin as I think the best is still yet to come.

Nailed it! WE know what Pasta is in Boston! And it's great! I don't think we even knew what Drouin was going to amount to in Tampa let alone a new fit in a less offensively charged Habs.

Admire Axeman's commitment to his mancrush on Drouin. Unfortunately for me, and with all due respect, I think Axeman's bold statement is something that will continue to be said for a couple more seasons. This kid is 22. He's no longer a rookie and we're still waiting on him hitting the lofty projections that Pasta already is.

I'd take the deal on the sure bet over the guy who is projected to become pretty much what Pasta already is.

Your league does't value goals more than assists for forwards, so Pasta's value isn't quite as high as it could be. But I'm still all for Pasta here. He showed more already and I see his ceiling higher than Drouin's.

I've pretty much stopped replying to threads on Drouin vs "player x" because of that exact comment about a "mancrush" or a "bias". I don't have a mancrush on anyone, but I do have opinions on how good I think players will be. I guess I should have refrained again.

I liked Drouins upside in Tampa and I like it even more in Montreal because he will get a better opportunity in Montreal. He was finally getting his shot in Tampa and was coming out as the player we all have been waiting for last year. This year he will get a better opportunity in Montreal and should take another step again. I look forward to it.

And it's nothing against Pastrnak. I am a big fan of his game as well, but as I say, PERSONALLY, I prefer Drouin here. He is who I would rather own because I don't see that much of a difference between these two when it's all said and done.

There are plenty of good young players that I would take over Drouin when I consider long term projections. Pastrnak just isn't one of them at this time.

Personally I see Drouin as a Duchene type who may titillate us with his skills and abilities, but may leave us wanting more in terms of actual production. I don't have any worries about that with Pastrnak. He seems a little less flashy but more of a producer.

This past season one guy scored 70 points (46 at even strength), while the other scored 53 points (27 at even strength) in roughly the same amount of ice time, both in their 3rd year in the league.

Give me the guy who scored 70 and is going to be in the same situation team/linemates-wise next year, without question.

Always take advantage of homers who are willing to overpay for guys on their real life team. It almost always results in you winning the trade, in my experience.

Wow, almost unanimous ! It looks like we are drifting to Pasta and Sergachev for Drouin and Montour . I'm definitely leaning towards going ahead with that deal
