Default Keeper Goalie - Helle vs Lehner

    Pool cats/players in signature.
I typically keep two goalies year to year.
Rinne is a lock but I am having a hard time between Hellebuyck and Lehner.
I am more comfortable to keep Lehner but there is a lot of hype about the potential of Helle.
    Thoughts?

I am not overly high on Lehner but he did put up solid numbers last year. There's still a lot of confusion on where he will even play next year. He's due for a new contract and I am not sure the Sabres are willing to invest what he will come looking for but that's just an observation of my own.

Hellebuyck had a so-so rookie season and "should" improve but he needs help in front of him.

When do you have to make your choice? If it's not until later in the summer, then I'd hold off making any choices until you are more clear on what's going on with Lehner.

Agree with this. There are obviously a lot of unknowns still going on in Buffalo given the management reset. Still don't know what (if anything) it will mean, but right now I think it's worth remembering that Lehner was Murray's guy. That's why he's in Buffalo. With Murray now gone, so too are any assurances that, all else being equal, Lehner is management's hope as the long-term answer.

Ullmark was signed to an extension yesterday (2 year, 1-1/2 Million.) Lehner may even wind up exposed to Vegas.

Should be an interesting week for Buffalo.

We have until September to lock in picks. I am just trying to line my ducks up while I still have a finger on the hockey pulse.

Might be a homer here but I take Hellebuyck his upside is way more than lehners and at worst the floors are about the same

    Lehner for me as well.

The stars are aligning in Buffalo and Lehner is the go-to guy.

This would be a lot tougher a question this time next off-season if Helle can get it together this season.

I'd wait it see how the summer plays out for both teams. We could see big changes for both teams/goalies before the summer ends.
