I go Vatrano, kid scored 36 goals in 36 games in the AHL during the 2015-16 season the skill is there, w/ Spooner possibly gone more offensive chances will come

the wing spots on the top two lines in boston are both up for grabs, alongside Bergeron/marchand and krejci/pastrnak. it's gonna probably come down to vatrano, heinen and debrusk, and i'd say vatrano easily has the best chance over the other guys.

Don't count out Bjork in that tussle for the top 6. My vote is also for Vat but if he can't get a steady top 6 spot then my favour could swing to AA pretty quick.

I'd take Athanasiou but either way it's close. AA to me was looking better than Larkin at the end of the season. Kid has gamebreaking skill and wheels.

yeah i like more the skills of AA and he can handle the puck much more than Vatrano......but Vatrano is a real sniper!.....i'm not sure that Vat gonna be on top 6 with Backes and Spooner and maybe Bjork.....But AA and the Wings have not a good top 6 so my thinking is that AA gonna play more than Vat and AA can be on top pwplay, but Vatrano is gonna stay on the second pwplay.....but with all the comments i see maybe Vatrano is a better option....AA is gonna cost me more than Vatrano!

I agree that the Wings don't have much in the top six, but right now they do have enough in the system that will keep Athanasiou in the bottom six. I can see Tatar, Nyquist, Mantha and, eventually within the next season or two max, Svechnikov pushing Athanasiou down and out of the top six for wingers. All are young enough to be viable options to hold him back short of injuries happening. Even today, someone like Abdelkader will keep him out of the top six (as sad as that is, but it is true).

Larkin and Nielsen are their top six centers long term once Zetterberg hangs them up.

another thing that impresses me about AA is his 18 goals in 64 games (23 goal pace) all while playing 13 minutes a game. This season will be interesting but I expect bigger things for this guy

I suppose that's the reason I also go Vatrano - Wings were a bit of a garbage fire on offence and Athanasiou still didn't get the opportunities so whether that is because he's not fancied or what but it is a red flag for me - personally I would love to see him getting a chance elswhere where he could get those top 6 minutes and we see what is really there
