was wondering what peoples thoughts on Ben Bishop going forward were?, it's no secret Dallas has a lack luster D core, but is he good enough & the Stars offense potent enough to be a playoff spot, or is he a good goalie on a bad team much like Schneider, Mrazek?

dobber has him at #10 in his last goalie rankings where would you seed him?

I think he's one of the best goaltender to acquire this summer. His value has decreased because of his lackluster season. Dallas, while not being the power that TB is, has a lot of great pieces and I think Bishop can take them to the next level (see: Dubnyk in Minnesota).

I think 10 ish is a fair ranking for now. Lots of potential in Dallas, especially if Hitch can shore up the team defense.

10 is fair. I think I have him a touch lower, but he's definitely up there.

What do people think about Hitchcock and his tendency to roll with the hot hand? That was always the fantasy problem in St. Louis. Allen plays well, starts a few games, craps the bed and then Elliott was given the crease. Rinse and repeat. I'm concerned the same thing happens with Bishop and Lethonen \ Niemi. I think Dallas' defense is weak enough that consistency will be tough for Bishop and that could lead to lots of switching up of who's #1 under Hitch.

Tenth might not seem fair, but looking at that list I can't see how he should be put higher, at least as of now. He has home run potential, but also could be walking into a bad situation. I'd feel better also if he had a weak back-up, like Jones or Dubnyk. I think he makes a very solid second goalie in 8-10 team leagues, and a good consolation #1 guy in 12 team leagues.

He's ranked 10th now. I can see him creep into the top 6 if he plays to his regular standards on a decent Dallas team. Their goalies were not typically bombarded during games; they just sucked

If Bishop can make some key saves for them on given nights while pushing back the regular SOG, he can get them some much needed wins that the 2 other tenders weren't able to get in the past few years!

As bad as Dallas was last year, I am not completely sold that their goalies were the major issue. Dont get me wrong, I do consider Bishop an upgrade to Lehtonen/Niemi but the biggest issue in Dallas was their shoddy D. Bishop may be an upgrade to last years G's, but unless Dallas does something this off-season to improve their D, Bishop may well struggle there too. I do think Hitch should help the system but it's still the players on the ice who have to perform.

right there with Axeman, although Bishop certainly an upgrade in the crease the defense was atrocious and needs serious help. Bishop cannot reverse their defensive woes by himself.

I'm a bit hesitant on Bishop this year, but optimistic that he returns to a higher level of play. Sharing the crease, and the feeling of knowing his time was running short with Tampa clearly got to him this past season. Players often need time adjusting to a new team and coaching style, and I wonder if this will be the case again. I predict ups and downs throughout the season, not a goalie I'm targeting, especially if other GMs are excited with his new team and will draft him higher.
