Default Will Chabot play for Sens in 17'/18'?

What are the chances he plays in NHL full time next year?

Can he have an immediate impact. Obviously with EK there, there won't be much PP time for Chabot.

I'd say the chances are pretty good. If I am not mistaken he almost made the squad last year out of camp but got sent back.

As far as an impact, that is still too early to call. The Sens do have all of their main Dmen coming back on contract next season so it depends on how Boucher wants to deploy him and change what they have rolling.

I think Chabot is good enough to be with the Sens, but there is already 7 NHL dmen signed through until the end of next season: Karlsson, Phaneuf, Methot, Ceci, Borowiecki, Wideman and Claesson. Unless someone from that list gets traded it could be a numbers game that keeps Chabot out of the NHL for anything besides a couple games here or there.
Otherwise, I would have given him an 90% chance of being with the big club next year.

A lot of it depends on the expansion draft. If LV takes Phaneuf or Ceci or Methot, then Chabot is probably in the lineup. If LV takes Bobby Ryan or another forward, then it's tougher since there's no spot for him to take.

He played his last junior game at the Mem Cup, so he'll either be in the NHL or AHL next season. Teams often have injuries on their blueline, so I'd expect to see him in the NHL for at least part of next season. Expect his minutes to be limited with Karlsson there, though.

I'd like to see him start the season in the AHL and work his way up when injuries happen. Ottawa's blueline is not expected to change much next season, so he'd have to steal someone's job to play full-time.

Very high chance he'll be playing in Ottawa but I just don't see him having a huge numerical impact as a rookie.

My thinking too. I think EK, Ceci and Methot are protected and Phaneuf gets skipped over. I could see someone like Dzingle, Wideman or Claesson being the LV selection. I'm not sure I see Ottawa using Chabot as a 5/6 guy, with Borowiecki, Wideman and Claesson above him. My guess is one year in the AHL to develop his game as a top-4 guy.

I can see him there I can also see him calling out at 20-25 at best... He will transition to the pro game as a bottom pairing d man and maybe 2nd pp but the Sens forwards aren't deep enough for it to mean a huge breakout IMO... But if Karlsson's plethora of injuries are bigger than speculated that possibly changes but if not then as above

Dion has to be protected unless he waives his NMC....

Chabot would have to beat out a top 4 guy, so it all depends if LVGK take a D or not in my eyes. His AHL eligibility actually hurts his chances in my eyes.

I can't see him beating out anyone in the top 4. Makes it as the #6 guy and gets some second PP minutes here and there to see what he's got. He might also be best served dominating the AHL with big minutes. Senators can afford to wait. Their blueline is serviceable outside the outstanding Karlsson. Draft him expecting to wait at least a year for results. This is no situation of Gostisbehere. The Sens D is way better than the Flyers', even without Karlsson.

    Agreed.
Even Ghost had to wait nearly a quarter of the season before getting in.

Injuries will be a factor. That could fast-track him into the lineup.

The only reason Ghost fast-tracked too, come to think of it.

With that in mind, I sometimes wonder why we bother predicting anything lol...
