I want Simmonds/Slavin but I guess the salary differential will force your hand one way or other. Can you provide this info? I am a fan of those two a lot.

Draisaitl for me. I can see Simmonds slowing down before too long because he plays such a physical game, and I have a total man crush on the Deutschland Dangler. I see his floor being 65-70 points per year for the next decade with upside for 80+, and I bet he increases his physicality over time too.

Also think Draisaitl will hold excellent trade value for a long time.

Simmonds = $3.975 x 2 years before UFA [capfriendly link]
Slavin = $925k x 1 year before RFA [capfriendly link]
Draisaitl = RFA, salary unknown [capfriendly link]

Draisaitl will become so, so expensive.... but he may be worth it. He may also take a pay cut to help Edmonton continue to build their superteam...

I mean with your cats you already know Simmonds brings the goods and at a nice price; Slavin an absolute steal at his current price. As Zero says Draisaitl is def going to get paid.

Oh yeah, no bridge deal here... so get ready for that in cap leagues.. though as I said he may take a discount... For some reason I prefer keeping Draisaitl even if Slavin is underrated. At worst, you could start a bidding war for Drai and do better than Simmonds and Slavin.. Wait for the new K, I say..

If you have to make your decision now, I'll side with Simmonds here. If you can wait until Draisaitl signs to compare his new salary with Simmonds', then it may be a different story if both contracts carry a similar cap hit.

As it stands, though, I see Draisaitl signing a $6.5m/4 years type of deal so I would prefer Simmonds a just a little under $4m for the next 2 years. Slavin is just the cherry on top!

Also depends what you could get instead of Slavin to fill that other spot... Draisaitl + Player X vs Simmonds + Slavin.

If Draisaitl signs a $6.5 mil 4 year deal that would be a steal in cap leagues imo.

agreed, player x's value needs to be considered. Will Slavin be a clear upgrade on X? He would need to be for me to give up 20pts on Draisaitl to Simmonds

^^ for arguments sake lets say "PLAYER X" is the 25th ranked player on a 25 man active roster.

Draisaitl side for me. I think you can manage his cap hit, and past this season Slavin will be making $4M anyways.

Dr Drai all the way for me. As EB mentioned slavin will bridge the cap gap and I want the best player by a decent amount here.
