Id rather Drouin in any format.
Is it worth my time or energy to make this move? At this point who would you want? I can shield Strome on my farm for the next could of years as a free holdover if I do but I'm wondering which is the more appealing choice in my format....

Id rather Drouin in any format.
Drouin for me as well.
I'm one of the biggest Strome supporters out here, and even I wouldn't make this deal. There's just no reason for it when Drouin has at least similar upside, perhaps even higher. Unless you can protect someone great by making this trade, I don't see any reason you'd need to take the risk of acquiring an unproven prospects when you already have a more proven young NHL player.

Strome for me easily considering your format! By shielding Strome in your farm, you get to keep one of Hedman or T. Johnson instead of Drouin.
To me the trade looks more like Drouin vs Hedman/TyJo + Strome and that's a no brainer IMO
EDIT: Just saw that you can only protect 2 D so that means that Johnson is the only choice. I still stand by my decision

If you had another strong choice after Drouin, then I would think about it, but I don't like the options. I, like all the rest, would keep Drouin.
Drouin

Drouin't even think about making this deal.
I'm one of the people who is least optimistic about Strome around here, but I do see an opportunity where this deal makes sense for you. If you can trade Hedman for an equivalent value forward then Drouin would be your odd man out. At that point you would want to have the asset on your farm team. In Sept/Oct (after your draft) with expectations on Strome high, you can flip him again for someone like Bennett/Reinhart who is more proven and primed for a breakout.

(No I don't have a hockey problem...)
keep Drouin over Strome
And I'd rather keep Hedman over Buff
Based on the set up in going against the grain as it basically becomes Johnson and Strome for Drouin. Personally I think Johnson has been a let down the last few seasons but I don't think it's time to abandon ship yet. As I've stated elsewhere I'm not the highest on Drouin so Strome becomes a plus and that more than swings it for me
Experience is the teacher of all things.
To me you are giving up elite talent to get above average players. After 53 in 73 in year three he will be 60+ easy and the rumblings about Anaheim/Tampa being trade partners D for a F means he wouldn't have to be behind Stammer/Kuch as far as pecking order IMO.
