This sums up my thoughts exactly.

If anyone wants to hear a great example of Cornell's talent, I'd recommend 'Burden in my Hand' - a beautiful and powerful Zeppelinesque ditty that shows off his range and touch.

Never the biggest fan of Soundgarden, but he was a pretty awesome front man/singer/guitar player (Temple of the Dog & Audioslave)

Glad I at least got to see him live with Audioslave when I did

    Ugh. Sad news.

Loved Soundgarden back in the day. Loved his solo stuff ("Sunshower" is totally worth a listen if you haven't heard it -- shows his voice).
Heck, that Temple of the Dog song was one of my favorites for years.

Wide Awake by Audioslave. One of my favorite songs of all time. The way his voice crackles in that.....so good.

Ya, Burden was probably my top Soundgarden song as well. Always gets me going jumping right into it. This news bothered me more than I thought it would/should. Came out of nowhere.

Devastated. Soundgarden was such a massive part of my life aged 18-26 and beyond.

Suicide hurts so many people. You can't take back this decision. There's no changing your mind. I wish people would think twice about such a decision. And then think twice again. And keep thinking until the decision changes.

Such a sad day; this one is devastating to me. For me, it's a toss up between Chris and Layne as to who the greatest lead singer of all time is. Now, they are both gone.
One of my favourite performances of his; A live acoustic version of Led Zeppelin's "Thank You". It's audio only, but give it a listen if you have never heard it before; you won't regret it. It seems somehow fitting right now...

I too was a fan of Soundgarden, and listened to them quite a bit in university (along with Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Guns N'Roses, Metallica and Motley Crue). I always liked "Black Hole Sun", "Spoonman" and "Rusty Cage", but I think my favorite Cornell song was the one he did for the James Bond film "Casino Royale".

Went to see Ryan Adams play last night. He busted out a Black Hole Sun. It caught me by surprise and I was a little emotional. It was a nice tribute. Thanks Ryan Adams.
