And the team has been in disaster on D for several years now.
In light of what the league has seen out of EDM (the transition from too much O-talent, to a focus on a few defenders)...
All players almost equal (3-6... or 3-7 whatever), COL will take a D.

I agree Colorado should take a D if they have other forwards at equalish value. I just dont think we should assume a team will take prospect x because the orginazation currently lacks that position.

[Out of pure curiousity - does the NHL have a top 10 D-draft success story from an inferior league? I don't care to do the research on this one... just wondering if any names pop into heads.]
Glad I didn't post in that thread!

I was pretty bullish on Rundblad though. Never had the chance to own him, fortunately.

    Agreed.

Another instance of when Big Ev showed that he was knowledgeable about Senators-related stuff too.

Thanks for this thread forsbergfan, was a real treat to read through.

if he went later in the draft, then maybe I would consider this, but with my assumption that he goes top 5, then he'll go top 5 in my league's draft as well. Dmen are very valuable in this league, and I wouldn't want to chance not getting him. I actually acquired the 4th overall and then traded up to 3rd (really didn't cost much).

    Great work forsberg fan!

One guy that will go higher than people think is Robert Thomas.

I agree with you that he's a legit first round talent. he was probably the one guy that I really wanted to get into the first round, but couldn't. I originally had him in one of the last spots, but took him out in the end. he'll probably go higher than where I had him.

    Agreed!

I remember the 2005 draft when Montreal drafted Price. They got a lot of criticism at the time (I'll admit I was amongst the critics as well, I actually had my eyes on Kopitar for the Habs at the time) because the team already had a great duo in Theodore and Huet, while a young kid named Halak was doing very well in juniors. A decade down the road and I'll admit that I'm not second-guessing that call that much. :P

for all those who were saying that most scouts don't have makar as a top 5 player, well...

    http://www.tsn.ca/mckenzie-s-draft-r...tions-1.778987

anything can happen this year, but with dallas (or whichever team trades up) and Colorado going at 3 and 4, hard to imagine makar doesn't go top 5 at the very worst.

If Vegas really has traded for 4-5 1st round picks. I would expect them to trade up to #1 or #2.

interesting idea. although with this year's draft, and considering they've got no one in their pipeline, I think they'd be better off with the 4-t 1st rounder instead of nico/Nolan. especially if a guy like cody glass could be there at 6, who would be a very good guy to build around.

regarding your idea, I don't think the flyers would go for it, but i'm sure the devils would highly consider it. the flyers already have a stacked pipeline, and this is their chance to add a top line player, while the devils have virtually nothing in their system, so stockpiling first rounders would be quite good for them. although their real need, which is on D, would not be solved by moving down to 6, since the top two dmen should be gone by then.

I think the biggest omission is Jesper Boqvist.

Great skill and skating. I see him going in the 25-40 area.

Already playing top 6 in Sweden
