Barrie is one dimensional for a d man but with no +/- his value goes up.... Now Letang is better but that's a chunky cap hit on one player so depends on the insurance piece....
Was thinking of moving Coyle(3.75) + Barrie(4.9) for Letang(9) + an insurance policy. Thoughts on a deal? Will Letang ever shake his BAB status? Is it worth the risk? Getting even 65 games out of him makes it worth it? I've always done my best to avoid Letang. He has a high cap# and other GM's fear his injury record, tanking his value as well. Your guys thoughts?

The insurance piece would be a prospect. V.Dunn(STL) or S.Morin(PHI). The more I think on it, the more Letang scares me. I also agree that cap hit is just to much to stomach. No +/- in my format but Barrie doesnt really bring any hits/blks either. I do believe Barrie is a 50-60 pt Dman and I have him on a decent contract. I will probably look at other avenues.

I drafted Letang with the identical mindset this year and In my cap league he cost me $7.2m
I thought, even if he plays 65 games he will get 55-60 points, which is elite production. Well he didn't play 65 games or even 55. He played 41 and it killed my season. Don't get sucked into the "what ifs". In a cap league, he just isn't worth the risk.
Someone I would try to target in place of Letang is Elman Larson. Maybe Coyle and Barrie gets it done. OEL struggled with a nagging injury all year and the poor health and unfortunate death of his mother. Look for him to bounce back in a huge way next year on that Arizona team that might turn the corner next season, they have a ton of young talent ala. Toronto Maple Leafs. The Elman Larsson owner might be down on him and you could have him at a reduced perceived value.
But stay away from Letang

Agree with both yours and big baby's summation - cap leagues are fickle beasts and realistically you should be able to get Letang for less than that just due to his contract, mix in his injuries, and your ability to off set those, makes him 'almost' untouchable*
*unless I have a ton of cap space and am able to drop him in the blink of an eye with no penalty
