Since there is some speculation in the air I'll throw on my moderator hat at for a couple of points.

1) Mods hate banning folks... seriously, it's the last thing we want to do. This is why it the Iron Sheik lingered, nobody likes to be the triggerman. (yes, in hindsight this is a failing, we're human).
2) Speaking of trigger men, this one was me. Transparency is good, right? (if you have concerns, a PM is fine )
3) Future re-appearances by the individual in question will not be tolerated. A really big second chance was handed out (rightly or wrongly)... a third will not be forth coming.

Other than that... go hockey!

I got temporarily banned once and all I got in terms of an explanation was an anonymous "bye" in the comment field by one of the mods.

So Loch, I appreciate the transparency.

I just wonder if this would have been an opportunity to use Big Ev's behavior as an example to people of what is considered "crossing the line", rather than scrubbing whatever he did so that everyone wonders exactly how far is too far.

But that is a decision for you and the other Mods, not for me. Just throwing in my $.02.

I would guess that it would be better for people to not know where theline is.... because if people know where the line is I see two problems

1) People will try to get as close to the line as possible without crossing it and if mods take action, then they will claim they never crossed that line.
2) If someone feels someone else has crossed the line then they will complain if that person is not banned...

Then we would have purge movie and it would be called 'The Purge - Banishment'

My little insight on all of this is why should we even need a line? We're all here to discuss hockey and the odd other guy topics. There should be no need for conversations to escalate to any point where disciplinary action is needed in the first place. Yes we have disagreements, but that's life. I enjoy having different opinions than others, because it shows that there's a grey area, and we both have something to learn as to why it's there. Personal attacks just aren't necessary around here, so there shouldn't need to be a line even drawn.

Final parting thought, we should all be grown up enough to not bother trying to toe the line.
