I think goudreah out points him the next couple years but not by alot. After that Laine should find his consistency and Winnipeg should keep improving. I like the move if he helps you positionally in the long term.
Points only league. Who do you like going into next season and beyond?
Another GM who has been after my LW Gaudreau most of the season just snagged Laine at RW. My RW is my weakest link and I will only keep Atkinson going fwd into next season. And with Marchand and Forsberg on my LW, maybe I can spare JG.
Don't think any other player on my roster would do it. A one for one here is very possible. RW is very shallow in our league and is easily plucked through on draft day. I'm not planning keeping Ebs or Ryan because they blow.
Any thoughts? I think both can flirt with 75-78 over the next few years.
24 man league and I finished ~8th this year. A more balanced attack might bring me more prosperity in coming years.
Rep to all.
Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.

I think they have similar ceilings, but due to the position and teammates I would rather have Laine.

(No I don't have a hockey problem...)
I tend to wanna keep younger players. Players seem to be peaking at younger ages these days. And Laone could have 3-4 years of elite production on the horizon. Gaudreau is great DGMW, but Laine has superstar potential. I like Laine as soon as next year.

I think Gaudreau has a higher pure point ceiling, but Laine has the age and dynamic factor.. plus you're weak on RW..
I also like Laine's surrounding talent moving forward better than Johnny, but not by a ton.
It's darn close. You can't go wrong if you fill a need on your team with either.

Keep on, keepin' on.
It's very close but the hype around Laine gives him added trade value.

Always want the guy with the biggest trade value - based on your OP also wonder how many games you lose with three premiere LW. I think Gadreau out points Laine going forward but if I can't roster some of those points then I'd rather the 'drop off' to Laine if I can roster 100% of what he produces
Experience is the teacher of all things.
Thanks for the help fellas. Rep'd where I could. Most in favour of Laine. Any additional thoughts would be welcomed. Some minor issues that concern me
a. In a points only, I tend to favour assist guys than goal guys. I feel Laine might be a little more one dimensional than JG.
b. sophomore year approaching for Laine. I traded a lot to get Mackinnon after his first year and lost on that deal big time.
c. concussion (small concerns)
Think it's very close. Guess I can't go wrong with either. Something to ponder over the summer months. I'm hesitant to make deals at the end of the year. Cheers and thanks.
