I hate the unpredictability when it comes to injured players like Letang, at least in my format with limited moves.
I'd rather have a bit less upside but more certainty of production with Hedman.
You don't have to scramble mid-season to replace a player and waste some valuable moves.
    Points-only keeper league. 12 teams. Keep any 12 players. Dress 12F - 6D - 2G.

I would pick Hedman here. For many reasons...age, productivity, less injured...

And maybe in a future not so far away....Letang will retire.

He is still young but with so many important injuries...maybe he will have to retire sooner than he thought...

Absolutely agree here. If KL is injured, which is often, he can't help you.

All world talent is useless if it's on the IR. You'd have to go back 6 years to see where he's played more than 72 games.

All due respect, Hedman is the clear right choice IMO. The only guarantee Letang offers is a part time player. Very good one, but I don't see him 59/60% of Letang holding as much value as 90/95% of Hedman who's improving each and every year. Actually wonder if a magical 100% of Letang can hold more value than a Hedman going forward.

I recognize it's subjective still. But I would dump Letang for hedman in a flash and never consider moving Hedman for Letang. Hell... after this latest 6 month injury recoup, I wonder if we even see Letang 5 years down the road as OP asked.

Hedman by landslide in my opinion. As the others have already mentioned, Hedman is younger, less injury-prone and produces just as much points as Letang.

Letang out another 4-6 months for surgery. Who knows how long it takes him to get back into game shape after that. I would take Hedman over Letang by a landslide as well.

I traded Letang away for Tarasenko and Luongo a few months ago to help me mount a final championship push this season. Luongo was a bust for this season, but Tank helped me seal the win. Hate losing Letang in a league that gives an added bonus for D scoring, but I have a pretty solid D core of keepers, and I think Tank has another level in him.

I agree with retirement being a real possibility especially if we see his play start to decline. He's been through so much.

Victor Hedman is a smart guy with a wicked shot who puts up tons of points from the blue-line and isn't afraid to jump up in the rush, and with Tampa having awful defense, he'll be their number one guy for a long time. Letang is good, perhaps close in value to Hedman, except that he's injury-prone, older, and Hedman also has a higher shooting accuracy percentage. I'd go with Hedman all the way
