As you can see I've had to move up prospects to my NHL protected list so you know my team isn't competing next year, but should I be protecting Pominville? he did score at a good clip this year showing maybe his career isn't quite over yet. I will lose 1 unprocted NHL player and 1 prospect whoever is not taken by the Las Vegas Gm will go back to me

This isn't very clear. Can you list it like this:

Forwards I could lose unless I protect them:
    D I could lose:
    G I could lose:

I just don't understand this, sorry!

Sorry to say but there's not much to get excited about on your team, so you need a full-blown rebuild.

I would dump Christian Thomas, Nathan Walker and Scott Kosmachuk from your prospect list, move Travis Sanheim, Christian Fischer and Ondrej Kase there, and protect Jason Pominville, Justin Braun and Matt Nieto instead.

I agree with J-P you are doing a full blown rebuild, keep veterans that have trade value and dump fringe prospects.

that's what I am doing I have so many early picks it's going to be great, I also have two 1st round picks and a two 2nd rounds in 2018 as well
not sure about dropping Walker I think he has a chance to play in a bottom six role on Washington within a year or two

just made a trade, trading away Tyson Jost, and getting three good pieces in return RNH, Hayden, and a 2018 2nd(which I value highly) it was tough moving Jost but i essentially kept rebuilding since both players are under 25 and in three years I hope Jost is where RNH was after his first year.

Nieto and Pominville are already playing in the NHL, so why wait a year or two? You can probably re-add Walker in a year or two anyways.

With that #1 or #2 pick, you'll pretty much get a Tyson Jost level prospect this season. With the 2nd rounders, you'll get good but not great prospects who are a few years away from the NHL. That's a good start but it won't be enough to turn your team around. It's going to take time and good trading to do that.

I don't like this trade for you. I prefer quality over quantity. RNH has become a secondary offensive option for Edmonton, so unless he gets traded, he's not a very good option in fantasy hockey. Hayden and a 2nd are nice but they're just secondary pieces in that deal. And now you have to expose one more player because of this trade, so that's also worth considering.

see I thought the same about RNH but really once he has Puljujarvi, the top six will be McDavid, Maroon, Eberle, RNH, Lucic, Draisatl, can't complain about that, and i don't see anyone who could challenge for anymore of his playing time.
regarding the quality over quantity in this league you can't win with just a few good players, basically a team has P.Kane, C.Atkinson, Carter and Matthews and they are in last because they don't have depth. my team is beating theirs just fyi...

You already listed 7 players for their top-6 (if you include Pulju). If they play Draisaitl at center, then that pushes RNH to #3C. In that case, he's just another 40 point player.

I understand that depth is important but there are better ways to acquire depth. I only play in deep leagues, so I know a thing or two about that. Every year, there are players who come out of nowhere and become valuable pieces. John Hayden is a good example of that. You need to identify those players and take chances with them. I doubt your team is competing in the next few years, so you have plenty of time to acquire depth.

yeah okay, remove Lucic(better suited for 3rd anyways) but I see RNH as a 1st overall pick who just needs to adjust to his new role, look at Kadri with Toronto now, last year everyone wasn't so high on him, now he has 30 goals, if he forms a 2nd line with Puljujarvi and Draisitl(I believe RNH and Draisitl will share faceoff duties) with McDavid Maroon, and Eberle as top line IMO he wont lose much PP time just needs to have a consistent line where they can get chemistry

Default Re: 31 team dynasty league with upcoming expansion draft / making my protected list

these are the trades I have made the last few days,my team looks completely different.

    I received - Ryan Nugent-Hopkins + John Hayden + LAK 2nd 2018
    for
    Tyson Jost

    I received - Matt Beleskey
    4th 2017 SJS

    I received - Cody Eakin + Vlad Kamenev + Casey Nelson + 2017 CHI 5th
    for
    Travis Sanheim + 2018 MTL 2nd

    I received - Anthony Beauvillier
    for
    MTL 1st 2018 + CLB 2nd 2017

Almost every trade I made was because the Gm had to get rid of a young NHLer who didn't make his keeper list for picks and prospects, I think I made out quite well considering I still have my 2017 1st or 2nd overall, two 2nd round picks, two 3rd round picks, as well as one 1st 2018, and two 2nd rounds. with these moves what would your list be for my roster both NHL(6F, 4D, 1G) and prospects (15 total) listed below
