I don't put this on the coach at all. He wasn't given much to work with. Their playoff streak extended a couple years longer than it should have.

Huh... I thought this was about the Oiler's lottery picks.

I remember attending a Red Wings game in Steve Yzerman's rookie season. I had seen him on TV but had never seen him play live yet. I would have been 12 or 13 and it was just as the Oilers were really starting their domination. I remember at some point in the game, after being really impressed with Yzerman, leaning over to my dad and ACTUALLY saying "you know, I really like this Yzerman kid. I think he has a chance to be something special. It is just too bad that he will never Acheive anything, as long as he remains on the absolutely horrible Red Wings."

Little did you know he would turn out to be a pretty good GM.
Little did you know he would be almost traded for Yashin before finally winning a Cup and erasing the idea that he couldn't get the big one.
Nothing but respect for the Wings organization. And especially for Jim Devallano who started it all. Love that guy.
