Default Nyquist on a Quiet Tear

I own Gustav Nyquist in several pools and noticed that he's been putting up some multi-point games recently. I checked a little deeper and his scoring really jumped from January 12th onwards. From that date, he's recorded 22 points in 27 games, a 67 point pace, much closer to what some of us were expecting heading into the season. Yet, I haven't heard much chatter on him.

He's getting the second most average TOI amongst Red Wing forwards with 17:12 minutes per game, including 2:54 on the PP (3rd best on team). Prior to the 12th of January, Nyquist played 20 minutes in a game only twice. From 12 January onwards, he has played at least 20 minutes in a game seven times, including a season high 23:47 on 20 March against the Sabres.

Just in case you didn't know.

Some Detroit forwards going very under the radar. Hardly anyone's giving Zetterberg any love for his performance this year either. And nobody seems to be talking about just how big of a disaster Larkin has been. Not a team that anyone's been focussed on this year aside from the leadup to the trade deadline.

Yeah, definitely Zetterberg's had a very good season (well in comparison to the rest of the Red Wings). I've been trying to ignore Larkin's sophomore season. I'm still high on him and won't sell low (full disclosure, I own Larkin in several keeper/dynasty leagues).

It's not just Nyquist who is flying under the radar. Since January 23rd, Zetterberg has 32 points in 28 games. More recently, Tatar has 8 goals and 11 points in 10 games. These two have been great for my H2H playoffs. Tatar had a horrible start to his season but he's finally turning things around. He's been glued to Zetterberg's wing, first it was with Mantha on the other side and now it's Nyquist.

Zetterberg's season is pretty amazing. 63 points in 75 games as a 36-year-old. I'm hoping he gets another 7 points in the remaining 7 games to reach that 70 point plateau.

I know Donber wrote about GN yesterday but where do we stand? Do we think he carries this into next season? Seems every season we end up discussing it but could this actually be it?

Gus was dropped in my keeper but quickly snagged by someone else. He's been on a nice little run here.

This is a joke, right? He's Dobber's new Cam Atkinson, although in this case don't expect the same breakthrough, ever.

No joke, I haven't read the ramblings almost the entire season.

I do think that Nyquist can be a consistent 60-65 point player. He'll be 28 heading into next season, so he should still be in his "prime" from an age perspective.
