Default Time to Flip Patrick Kane?

I'm in a keep three league and wondering if it is time to flip Patrick Kane while his value is at its peak. My other two keepers would be Nikita Kucherov and Mark Scheifele. Also have David Pastrnak who I would really like to hang on to. Since Kane will be 29 this fall, what are people's thoughts on trying to flip him for say, a 1st and 2nd round draft pick or two first rounders (2017 and 2018)?

I would really prefer to get ahead of his inevitable regression down the road and keep the younger Pastrnak instead.

Who could you get with those picks?

At first look I would say try to get much more than just picks. If you want to maximize his value I would want an elite young player to replace his scoring as the centerpiece. Though Kane is at his absolute peak right now, he's still probably good for 3 or 4 more years of top 15 scoring. Make sure you're getting that kind of potential back.

Personally I think you should keep Kane over Pastrnak unless you get an absolute boatload for him.

Don't be one of those guys who constantly chases youth and never wins his pool.

Keep Kane. He is a way better keeper in a keep 3 than Pasternak. Trade pasta away.

Kane has at least a couple more years of elite production and is a top 10 player in most league. Keep him if you want to have the best shot at winning next year.

Did I mention keep him? You should do that.

*if you must trade him you have to get elite back. Don't settle for 1st round picks. Maybe try for Karlsson, Eichel plus, Mathews plus etc. But must be elite for elite with Kane.

Kane should not see much of a decline for the next 3-4 years and I think he'll be pt/game the next 2 seasons while playing with Panarin. His game isn't built on speed or physicality so he should age relatively well. I think I would to trade Pastrnak.

As with any trade it depends on return but getting a player ranked 36+ (if it's a 12 team league) makes no sense to me TBH

Has the trade of Artemi Panarin to Columbus change anyone's opinion?

Kane was getting a lot of points before anyone knew of Panarin - Kane is still a good keeper for you.

Kane does take a small hit with the trade of Panarin. I would be more apt to trade him now but I wouldn't be looking to get rid of him.

Interestingly, I was just approached by the Kane owner in my league. He wanted Stone, Gally, +. I declined.

Yeah, I'd keep Kane assuming it is NOT a cap league.

The only way I see trading Kane is if you are adding an asset to him to acquire an upgrade. The problem is that there aren't many players better than Kane to acquire: McDavid, Crosby, Karlsson. That's about it.

So, unless you're acquiring one of those three, then you're most likely taking on 2+ assets for Kane, in which case now your dropping someone else off your roster or taking on future potential instead of winning today.

Big + I assume? With a small + that would be a great deal for you.

lmao this right here. just find it funny cuz everyone kept telling me that when i first joined, i didn't listen, was in perpetual rebuild for a few years then finally turned things around and cashed. trust me it's no fun.

i'd only trade him if the right deal came across, no need to rush things because he is still in his prime and will be very productive either way.
