    Default Calvin Pickard going forward

Hey guys, just wondering if I can get your thoughts on Pickard's upside? I know he was highly touted a few years ago, but has struggled a bit at NHL level.

With Varly being a band-aid boy recently plus his recent struggles, is Pickard due to maybe grab the #1 job in mile high city?

He's available in my keeper salary league at $1, $4 increase at end of season if kept, so $5 for next year. 12 teams in the league, every team can carry up to max of 4 goalies, most carry 2-3 throughout the season. Can only keep 2 goalies end of each year, average goalie salary for the good goalies is about $20-$25.

Does he have any value? Haven't seen him play at all, just looking at his stats he seems inconsistent, talented but inconsistent.

He's playing well right now but Varlamov should be back for next season and even if the Avs wanted to they cant buy out a guy recovering from injury.

So his value is very limited in my opinion. He's doing pretty good with the crease to himself and a fairly light schedule, but that won't last.

I touted him as being the best goalie in Colorado at the first of the season, and still believe that to be true. The team, as a whole, is terrible, but Pickard has decent numbers. Varly, unfortunately, is still getting paid the bigger dollars, but he is a band aid boy, and I believe that Pickard is the better choice going forward. The team, however, may see it differently.

Agree with my friend Bottlenecker ... he's the better choice But Varly's contract may pose a stumbling block. Cross fingers the don't protect Varly and he gets claimed.

    Thanks for the replies.

That's what I was kind of worried about, Varly's fat contract making it so they play him even when they maybe shouldn't.
