Default C Parayko contract? and next season projection

Any guesses what he signs for and for how long?

Will it be the standard $4m/year, 5-7 year deal, that every dman seems to get these days or will he go for a bridge and gamble on himself breaking out next season. Maybe he's sees what happened with Klingberg, and would opt not to go long term. I think he is going to have a monster year next season.

    Thoughts?

I think that $4 Million bar has been raised, and it's now in the 4.5 to 5 range. It wouldn't surprise me to see him go 5Mil AAV over 6 years.

I think for him to taste $5M or more per season the term would have to be 4 years, maybe 5 max. I feel like this is one where the two sides could be far apart, and usually that means a bridge. I'm going to just guess and say $15.75M for 3 years.

I'm with Rizzee, I see him as a holdout possibility. He's shown flashes of HUGE potential, but hasn't shown much consistency (whether that's due to usage or not is besides the point, IMO). The Blues are going to want him down near that $4mil/year range, and he'll be asking for a contract like Barrie or Leddy in the $5.5mil/year range. I'd say odds are on a bridge deal somewhere around $4.5mil for three years ($13.5mil total). Similar dollars to Klingberg, but shorter term while he's still in his prime to be able to sign a big long-term deal.

If Parayko signs a bridge contract, I don't see him getting much more than Trouba did (2 years, $3M AAV). If he signs a long-term contract (5+ years), then I can see it being closer to $5M AAV. He hasn't proven more than that yet in my opinion. If he wants more than $5M, then he needs to take that bridge contract and really prove himself.

I agree with this although he has been better than Trouba in his last contract year, so that might be worth 0.5-1m more for that bridge deal

I see a bridge deal for something around the $3-3.5M as well. I am not so sure he has proven anything more than Trouba at this point though.

A bridge contract makes sense here from the Blues point of view. Give him a full season or two as the PP quarterback now that Shattenkirk is gone. As such, I agree with the numbers Axeman has posted: somewhere between 3-3.5 million over two years.

I wouldn't be so sure that he breaks out next season... since the Shattenkirk trade, Pietrangelo is the undisputed QB on the PP for the Blues.
On average, he has received almost 75% of the available PP time and has 6 points in 8 games.

It's not a knock on Parayko's potential, but the opportunity might not be ideal. Let's see how it unfolds next season, lots can happen.
FWIW, I think that 35 points is a safe floor. He certainly has the shot and the skating ability to produce more.
    Points-only keeper league. 12 teams. Keep any 12 players. Dress 12F - 6D - 2G.

He hasn't been better than Trouba in my opinion. He may have shown more offensive potential but Trouba was a stud already last season.
