UMass-Lowell left winger C.J. Smith will reportedly sign an entry-level contract with Buffalo.
Buffalo hasn't officially announced the deal yet, but the story was initially reported by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. Smith amassed 23 goals and 28 assists in 41 games this season. He will apparently join the Sabres for practice on Thursday and finish the season in the NHL.

Tucker Poolman's been signed by the Jets to a 1 year ELC. 30 points in 38 games for the UND defenseman this season. He needs surgery on his shoulder, but hopefully he can help shore up the bottom pairing for the Jets at some point next season, and hopefully he and the Jets find that they're a good fit for eachother long-term.

The Sharks and Nick DeSimone agreed on a two-year Entry Level Contract on Thursday.
He also signed an ATO, which means he'll report to and finish the season with AHL San Jose. "Nick is a smooth, puck-moving defenseman with good size who uses his speed in both ends of the ice," said Sharks GM Doug Wilson. The 22-year-old added to his totals each of his three seasons at Union College, topping out at nine goals and 19 points in 38 games from the blue line.

Michael Vecchione has agreed to a one-year, entry-level contract with the Philadelphia Flyers.
Vecchione will reportedly join the Flyers and burn the season of his contract, which will allow him to become a restricted free agent this summer. There was some competition to sign him, so this arrangement might have been what it took in order for Philadelphia to land him. He had 29 goals and 63 points in 38 games with Union College this season.

His contract will begin with the 2016-17 season, so he will report to Devils. Kapla skated in four seasons with the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. He had 30 points in 41 games during the 2016-17 campaign.
Did anyone watch the Devils game yesterday? Kapla played 15:07 in his NHL debut with 1:40 of that coming on the PP. He didn't register a shot on goal but I'd love to hear how he looked out there. It looks like the Devils really like him and they're thin on 'D', so this situation is worth monitoring.

In his second NHL game, Michael Kapla played 19:28 with 2:55 of that coming on the PP and 0:31 SH. This time he registered 2 SOG, 2 hits and 1 block but no points.

His ice-time is very intriguing. In the two games, he's received 42.3% of available PP time according to Frozen Pool. I guess I have to find that Devils-Philly game somewhere and watch it to see how he's doing out there.

The Arizona Coyotes have announced that they have signed NCAA free-agent goaltender Hunter Miska to an entry-level contract.
"We are very pleased to sign Hunter to an entry level contract," said Coyotes GM John Chayka. "Hunter was one of the top goalies in the NCAA last year and he was highly coveted by numerous NHL teams. We are excited to have him join our organization and look forward to watching him develop." The Coyotes were able to land Miska when many teams didn't think he was ready to sign a professional NHL contract. The former goaltender for the University of Minnesota-Duluth posted a 27-5-5 record, with a 2.20 goals against average and a .920 save percentage in the NCAA this season.
