Kings get Bishop

Haven't seen this angle talked about anywhere, but if LA was confident, or even knew somehow, that Vegas wanted Bishop, then wouldn't that be protecting their other exposed forwards and defensemen from being picked?

No... because Bishop is not signed for next season. He is not eligible to be taken in expansion draft unless the Kings resign him before then. If the Kings don't resign him then Vegas will be able to negotiate with Bish in the offseason before any of the other teams can.

Bishop is UFA so the Kings cant use him in the fashion you describe. They can trade his rights to Vegas the day after the season ends though. Vegas would be able to negotiate exclusively with Bishop until free agent signing begins. That might be good enough to buy some protection for other exposed players, or even better, maybe Deano can get McPhee to take Gaborik or Brown off our hands.

Doesn't Vegas already get a head start on negotiating with UFAs without needing to trade for their rights?
