He's a UFA. He's free to sign where he wants to. He's under no obligation now to sign an extension so why would be?

...but, they are playing under Yeo now vs Hitchcock last year. I think Shattenkirk is a more valuable commodity than either Brouwer or Backes were, and there is no way they will replace Shatts in a trade. Their chances of winning it all are way better with Shattenkirk vs what they get back. They just have to bite the bullet if they want any chance.
