There's just no room for him as a starter anywhere but I do think he'll get out of Chicago to a team that has more of an 1A/1B situation instead of having a workhorse like Crawford ahead of him.
so what happens with scott darling next year? does he stay in Chicago as a backup or does he go somewhere else and become a starter? and if so, where does he go?
is he next year's cam Talbot or martin jones?

Vegas perhaps?

I see Vegas taking TVR before taking Darling. There are simply enough other goalies available. Why risk a relatively unproven guy? Keep in mind that they have to spend to the cap floor, too.
But here is a situation for you: What if there is a trade to be made in which they could move Crawford? Salary cap world. It's gotta be at least one big money contract (in addition to Kruger), and it ain't going to be Toews, Kane, or Keith. Could Hossa retire? Possibly. I don't see them breaking up 88-15-72, so it won't be Anisimov (they've needed that 2C for far too long to get him and move him two years later). Seabrook? Seems logical, but he's an old 31 years old and not really on a desirable contract. They have to like what they have seen Darling do for them in his limited role the last two seasons.
Just thinking out loud here. Probably won't happen.
Big thumbs up to the idea that Darling ends up as the #1 in Chicago. It makes a lot of strategic sense.
Back-up...somewhere. Fantasy ear elephant.

The way things are going with conversations about the league's capable backups, Las Vegas has something like 7 starting goaltenders.
