Well I can say right off the top there's no way your getting offer 3 or 4
Hey all, this is for team in sig.
I'm currently in 2nd place 2.5 games behind 1st, I'm all in for the win this year. What option should I push hard for, no offers have been made yet but I am thinking of making the following offers.
A little background info. We are allowed to exceed our cap in season by 10% to promote competitiveness and trading options. Every year we hold a 4 round rookie draft/none of the players I would potentially be adding would be kept nor would any of the players I would be giving up. Over the course of the year I lead in all the skating categories except +/- (last) and Hits (2nd). I am last in GAA and SV% but I just recently acquired Quick for my playoff push so hoping that move pays off.
Anyways here's what I'm contemplating.
Option 1
Give C. Hagelin, P.A. Parenteau, J. Faulk, 2017 1st round pick
Get N. Backstrom (6.9), J. Johnson (0.1), T. Wilson (0.1)
(Wilson would go to my farm for depth)
Option 2
Give C. Hagelin, P.A. Parenteau, 2017 2nd round pick
Get B. Saad (4.2)
Option 3
Give C. Hagelin, P.A. Parenteau, J. Faulk, 2017 1st round pick
Get B. Burns (7.3)
(S. Reinhart moves from C to LW, M. Hanzal from farm to C)
Option 4
Give T. Johnson, C. Hagelin, P.A. Parenteau, J. Faulk, 2017 1st round pick, 2018 1st round pick
Get B. Burns (7.3), P. Kessel (4.4)
(T. Seguin moves from RW to C, S. Reinhart moves from C to LW, M. Hanzal from farm to C)
Option 5
Stand pat and let my team keep rolling right along
I also have the following rookies available to be added to any deal if needed but trying to avoid it if possible:
P. Buchnevich, M. Dal Colle, E. Svechnikov, Z. Werenski, I. Samsonov
Option 1 leaves no holes and a little depth insurance in case of injury
Option 2 least disruption to team, only mid level player in return
Option 3 and 4 leaves me with no depth so could be in trouble if I sustain any big injury (these options are swinging for the fences)
Guy in 1st just made a deal that looks like this
He got R. Ristolainen (3.7), M. Jones (7.3), D. Pastrnak (2.4)
He gave C. Hellebuyck (3.0), J. Iginla (2.1), 2018 1st Round Pick, 2017 3rd Round Pick, Ivan Provorov (Rookie)
His team pre trade looks like this
C: C. Giroux, M. Scheifele, V. Trocheck, B. Dubinsky
LW: M. Johansson, R. Nash (RW), E. Kane, S. Hartnell
RW: P. Kane, J. Voracek, J. Carter (C), J. Pominville
D: R. Josi, D. Hamilton, M. Green, A. Markov, D. Severson, A. Larsson
G: B. Holtby, F. Andersen
Farm: J. Iginla, T. Teravainen, A. Goligoski, M. Rielly, C. Hellebuyck
Thanks for taking the time to read, any input will be greatly appreciated.

So what's your logic/reasoning for that?
There is no way he will be keeping Burns next year at a cost of 14.6M and not likely that Kessel will be kept at a cost of 8.8, concidering all the top guys (Crosby, Ovi, Stamkos, Benn, Seguin, etc) all went between 8-9M.
Option 3 and 4 also happens to be the same owner I trade MAF (0.6M cap hit) + 4th rounder to for Quick so it'd also about the owner as much as it is about the players involved in the deals.

If you could land of any 1, 3 or 4 then I'd have difficulty not doing them

option 1 with your roster I would say, lands you an elite center which you lack right now.

So current offer on the table ready for me to accept is as follows:
Option 4
Give T. Johnson, C. Hagelin, P.A. Parenteau, J. Faulk, 2017 1st round pick, 2018 1st round pick
Get B. Burns (7.3), P. Kessel (4.4)
I had asked for a 2017 4th round pick to come back in addition to Burns and Kessel but the other GM isn't willing to give up a pick.
Am I giving up too much in this deal? Should I try to reduce one of the 1st round picks to a later round pick? Or do I just accept and say thank you very much?
