    Default Burakovsky hand injury

Burakovsky is currently listed as DTD after taking a shot on the hand during yesterday's game. Caps coaching staff says that he will "miss some time". Stay tuned for more details.

It's a shame this happened now since he was just starting to heat up again like he had done last year at around the same time...

Rotowire--Head coach Barry Trotz said Burakovsy (hand) will be out of the lineup until at least mid-March, Isabelle Khurshudyan of The Washington Post reports.
Spin: The 22-year-old winger left the ice after blocking a shot in the first period of Thursday's 6-3 win over the Red Wings and did not return. Burakovsky will not need surgery, so it's possible he could return to the ice sooner. The Swedish winger was having a terrific 2017 with seven goals and 15 points in his last 20 games on the third line with Lars Eller and Brett Connolly. Zach Sanford will get the first crack at his lineup spot, but don't be surprised if the team calls up Jakub Vrana or another player from AHL Hershey to try and fill the void.

So looks like about 4-6 weeks. Bummer, he was really doing a nice job lately.

So we are at 4 weeks.. I'm guessing this goes closer to 6... and a hand injury really hurts the shot.. methinks he's out until the playoffs or really close to it. Too bad, he was on fire.

At least Washington can afford to let him rest until playoffs.

Well... 13 games before Burakovsky hand injury, the Caps went on a 10-2-1 run worth 21pts. In the 13 games since Burakovsky went down with his injury, the Caps are 6-6-1 for a total of 13pts. I would not peg all of their recent struggles on Burakovsky's absence but it has to have had some sort of ripple effect on their output. I believe the past 13-game stretch is the worst that the Caps have had all season (they have lost more than 33% of their total losses all season long in this stretch ) Luckily for them, they have built a solid cushion in the standings.
