    Default Papelbon?

Hey all, wondering if anyone has heard any news, rumours, anything at all on Pap in the last little while? Thoughts on if he plays this year? Guessing that even if he plays it won*'t be in a closing role

He’s still a FA. Apparently a bunch of ex-Nationals teammates have been asked about Papelbon this offseason. They all say he’s a good teammate and he’s old school baseball, but yet he’s still unsigned, also doesn’t help he’s not strong mentally anymore.

Ya that is all I can seem to find as well (Nats teammates and their votes of confidence). It seems like Nats fans hate him though....is it not common knowledge that Harper (despite his incredible ability) is a complete douchebag? I have always been a Pap fan so perhaps my views are biased but that whole incident looked to me like a veteran speaking out to a cocky young guy who didn't run out a play at first. Things got heated and it got physical. Sure Pap initiated the contact but I bet he had a handful of teammates thinking "it's about time somebody did it"

It?s not like Pap was without flaws. He was apparently a bad teammate in philly when they were losing, he demanded he be a closer when entering into the Nationals and wouldn?t take another role.

He?s got an attitude problem. Highlighted when he blew a save, got booed by the crowd, and then grabbed his crotch when leaving the field towards the crowd. Paps high school coach said he was hard to like. In 2013 he ripped the Phillies organization apart I do believe.

Harper is a 21/22 (I think) yr old, and he?s acting like a lot of highly competitive young players in a sport. He?s also disliked by old-school guys for his make baseball fun campaign he does, even though I think he?s in the right.

Nationals took a chance on Pap and thought his production was tied to a bad Philly team, but turned out it was because Pap is too volatile, and no team wants to take that risk on an old player. Clubhouse attitude is huge in baseball because of how close you are to each other for an extended time.
