Default Is Jordan Schmaltz The Second Coming of Parayko?

Looking at Jordan Schmaltz who is currently in the AHL in the blues system, he reminds me of Parayko a bit as a big strong shooting right handed dman. I don't know much about him or his potential and was wondering if anyone had any information concerning him. I was considering taking him in my prospect draft but 4 guys I am targeting before him for sure in order are Kaprizov, Sorokin, Shestyorkin, Gusev.

    LW: Forsberg, Huberdeau, JVR, Guentzel
    RW: Palmieri, Mark Stone
D: Hedman, Ristolainen, S. Jones, OEL
    G: Lundqvist or Mike Smith

    Farm Team: Demko, Kaprizov, Samsonov

No. Schmaltz is a good offensive D-man prospect but he's not at the level of Parayko or those 4 Russians you mentioned.

Can you have a second coming when the first coming hasn't even actually happened yet?
    Without me, it's only "aweso".

I wouldn't really bother with his style of play. What really matters is his production.

Sorry man, I can't offer any actual insight as I haven't watched him play. That is why I offered up a smartass comment instead.

Gusev? Really? He's not a prospect worth even owning in most leagues.

I like Schmaltz's upside but like most young Dmen, it's hard to say at this stage of the game.

Let's be honest, how many thought Parayko would turn out to be what he has become when he was still a prospect? Not many I bet.

@ The Iron Sheik, you don't think Gusev is a good prospect to own with his production this year in the K (i know i know) and the fact he would be joining Kuch and an offensive friendly TBL team?

People around these parts dont feel there's enough room for Drouin to reach his potential. What makes you think, assuming he even comes over, that Gusev would?

Some would argue being 24 you no longer are a prospect

You're right; I should have said Schmaltz is at similar level to Gusev, and the two of them are way behind the other three on that list. But some people are loving Gusev so much that you can probably get a better return with him than with Schmaltz, so that should also be considered.

It's not like he would cost a lot to acquire or to hold, but I don't see a guy turning 25 who is that small have any impact coming into the NHL, if he ever does.
